Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Praise to the Lord for His Fidelity to Israel.
99 (A)The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble;
He [a](B)is enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake!
2 The Lord [b]is (C)great in Zion,
And He is (D)exalted above all the peoples.
3 Let them praise Your (E)great and awesome name;
(F)Holy is [c]He.
4 The [d]strength of the King (G)loves [e]justice;
You have established [f](H)equity;
You have (I)executed [g]justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5 [h](J)Exalt the Lord our God
And (K)worship at His footstool;
(L)Holy is He.
6 (M)Moses and Aaron were among His (N)priests,
And (O)Samuel was among those who (P)called on His name;
They (Q)called upon the Lord and He answered them.
7 He (R)spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They (S)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
8 O Lord our God, You (T)answered them;
You were a (U)forgiving God to them,
And yet an (V)avenger of their evil deeds.
9 Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For holy is the Lord our God.
15 “(A)So I turned and came down from the mountain while the mountain was burning with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands. 16 And I saw that you had indeed sinned against the Lord your God. You had made for yourselves a molten calf; you had turned aside quickly from the way which the Lord had commanded you. 17 I took hold of the two tablets and threw them from my hands and smashed them before your eyes. 18 (B)I fell down before the Lord, (C)as at the first, forty days and nights; (D)I neither ate bread nor drank water, (E)because of all your sin which you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of the Lord to provoke Him to anger. 19 For (F)I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the Lord was wrathful against you in order to destroy you, (G)but the Lord listened to me that time also. 20 The Lord was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him; so I also prayed for Aaron at the same time. 21 (H)I took your [a]sinful thing, the calf which you had made, and burned it with fire and crushed it, grinding it very small until it was as fine as dust; and I threw its dust into the brook that came down from the mountain.
22 “Again at (I)Taberah and at (J)Massah and at (K)Kibroth-hattaavah you provoked the Lord to wrath. 23 When the Lord sent you from (L)Kadesh-barnea, saying, ‘(M)Go up and possess the land which I have given you,’ then you rebelled against the [b]command of the Lord your God; (N)you neither believed Him nor listened to His voice. 24 (O)You have been rebellious against the Lord from the day I knew you.
21 (A)At that very [a]time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I [b]praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. 22 (B)All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and (C)no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”
23 (D)Turning to the disciples, He said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see, 24 for I say to you, that many prophets and kings wished to see the things which you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.”
