6 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his ^[a]train filled the temple. ² Above him stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. ³ And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is Jehovah of hosts: ^[b]the whole earth is full of his glory. ⁴ And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. ⁵ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.

⁶ Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a ^[c]live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: ⁷ and he touched my mouth with it, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin ^[d]forgiven. ⁸ And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here am I; send me.

⁹ And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye ^[a]indeed, but understand not; and see ye ^[b]indeed, but perceive not. ¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and ^[c]understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed. ¹¹ Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until cities be waste without inhabitant, and houses without man, and the land become utterly waste, ¹² and Jehovah have removed men far away, and the forsaken places be many in the midst of the land. ^13 [d]And if there be yet a tenth in it, it also shall in turn be ^[e]eaten up: as a terebinth, and as an oak, ^[f]whose ^[g]stock remaineth, when they ^[h]are felled; so the holy seed is the ^[i]stock thereof.

15 Now I make known unto you brethren, the ^[a]gospel which I ^[b]preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand, ² by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast ^[c]the word which I ^[d]preached unto you, except ye believed ^[e]in vain. ³ For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; ⁴ and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures; ⁵ and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve; ⁶ then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep; ⁷ then he appeared to ^[f]James; then to all the apostles; ⁸ and last of all, as to the child untimely born, he appeared to me also. ⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found ^[g]vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. ¹¹ Whether then it be I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

5 Now it came to pass, while the multitude pressed upon him and heard the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret; ² and he saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets. ³ And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the multitudes out of the boat. ⁴ And when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. ⁵ And Simon answered and said, Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing: but at thy word I will let down the nets. ⁶ And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes; and their nets were breaking; ⁷ and they beckoned unto their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. ⁸ But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. ⁹ For he was amazed, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken; ¹⁰ and so were also ^[a]James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt ^[b]catch men. ¹¹ And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all, and followed him.
