約 翰 福 音 21:19-24
19 （耶稣讲这番话，是为了告诉彼得，他荣耀上帝的死法。）说完，耶稣又对彼得说∶“跟我来。”
20 彼得回头一看，看见耶稣钟爱的那个门徒跟随着他们，（他就是在最后的晚餐时，靠近耶稣胸前，问他∶“主，谁是出卖你的人”的那个门徒。） 21 便对他说∶“主，他将来怎样？”
22 耶稣说∶“如果我想要他一直活到我来，这与你有什么关系呢？跟我走！”
23 于是，故事在弟兄间传开了，说耶稣钟爱的那个门徒不会死，可是耶稣并没有说他不会死，他只是说“如果我想要他一直活到我来，这与你有什么关系呢？”
24 他就是讲述并记载这一切的门徒，我们知道他的证词是真实的。
