26 “(A)But they became disobedient and rebelled against You,
And (B)cast Your law behind their backs
And (C)killed Your prophets who had (D)testified to them
So that they might return to You,
And (E)they [a]committed great [b]blasphemies.
27 Therefore You (F)gave them into the hand of the ones who distressed them, and they afflicted them with distress,
But (G)at the time of their distress they cried to You,
And You listened from heaven, and according to Your abundant compassion
You (H)gave them saviors and they saved them from the hand of the ones that distressed them.
28 But (I)as soon as they had rest, they returned to do evil before You;
Therefore You forsook them in the hand of their enemies, so they had dominion over them.
Then they returned and cried to You. And You listened from heaven,
And (J)many times You delivered them according to Your compassion,
29 And (K)testified to them in order to turn them back to Your law.
Yet (L)they acted presumptuously and did not listen to Your commandments but sinned against Your judgments,
By (M)which if a man does them, he shall live.
And they (N)gave a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.
30 (O)However, You bore with them for many years,
And (P)testified to them by (Q)Your Spirit by the hand of Your prophets,
Yet they would not give ear.
So You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.
31 Nevertheless, in Your abundant compassion You (R)did not make a complete destruction of them or forsake them,
For You are (S)a gracious and compassionate God.
20 “But when you see Jerusalem (A)surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand. 21 Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of [a]the city must leave, and (B)those who are in the countryside must not enter [b]the city; 22 because these are (C)days of vengeance, so that all things which are written will be fulfilled. 23 Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days; for (D)there will be great distress upon the [c]land and wrath against this people, 24 and they will fall by (E)the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations, and (F)Jerusalem will be (G)trampled under foot by the Gentiles until (H)the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
