You Are My God
Psalm 63
1 A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
2 O God, You are my God,
earnestly I seek You.
My soul thirsts for You.
My flesh longs for You
in a dry and weary land, where there is no water.
3 So, I looked for You in the Sanctuary,
to see Your power and Your glory.
4 Since Your lovingkindness is better than life,
my lips will praise You.
5 So I will bless You as long as I live.
In Your name I lift up my hands.[a]
6 My soul is satisfied as with fat and oil,
so my mouth praises You with joyful lips.
7 When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You through the night watches.
8 For You have been my help,
and in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
9 My soul clings to You—
Your right hand upholds me.
10 But those who seek my soul to destroy it
will go down to the depths of the earth.
11 They will be gutted by the sword,
and become a prey for jackals.
12 But the king will rejoice in God.
All who swear by Him will boast,
when the mouth speaking lies is shut.
Judah Anoints David King
2 Now it came to pass after this that David inquired of Adonai saying, “Should I go up to one of the towns of Judah?”
Adonai said to him, “Go up.”
“Where shall I go up?” David asked.
“To Hebron,” He said.
2 So David went up there, along with his two wives—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite. 3 David also brought up his men that were with him, each with his household, and they settled in the towns of Hebron. 4 Then the men of Judah came and there anointed David king over the house of Judah.
Then they told David saying, “It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.”
5 So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, “Blessed are you of Adonai for showing this kindness to Saul your lord, by burying him. 6 So now may Adonai show you kindness and faithfulness; and I also will show you goodness because you have done this thing. 7 Now therefore, be strong and brave, for Saul your lord is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”
25 “These things I have spoken to you in metaphors. An hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in metaphors, but will tell you plainly about the Father. 26 In that day, you will ask in My name—and I’m not telling you that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from God. 28 I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”
29 His disciples say, “See, now You’re speaking plainly and not in metaphors. 30 Now we know that You know everything and have no need to be asked anything. By this we believe that You came forth from God.”
31 Yeshua answered them, “Do you now believe? 32 Look, the hour is coming—indeed has come—when you will be scattered, each to his own, and you will abandon Me. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have shalom. In the world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world!”
