Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Yahweh, Save Me
A Psalm of David. When [a]he fled from Absalom his son.
3 O Yahweh, how (A)my adversaries have become many!
Many are rising up against me.
2 Many are saying [b]of my soul,
“There is no (B)salvation for him in God.” [c]Selah.
3 But You, O Yahweh, are (C)a shield about me,
My (D)glory, and the One who (E)lifts my head.
4 I was calling to Yahweh with my voice,
And He (F)answered me from (G)His holy [d]mountain. Selah.
5 [e]I (H)lay down and slept;
I awoke, for Yahweh sustains me.
6 I will (I)not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who all around (J)have set themselves against me.
5 And you shall answer and say before Yahweh your God, ‘(A)My father was a [a]wandering Aramean, and he went down to Egypt and [b]sojourned there, (B)few in number; but there he became a (C)great, mighty, and populous nation. 6 And the (D)Egyptians treated us harshly and afflicted us and imposed hard slave labor on us. 7 Then (E)we cried out to Yahweh, the God of our fathers, and Yahweh heard our voice and saw our affliction and our toil and our oppression; 8 (F)and Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror and with signs and wonders; 9 and He has brought us to this place and has given us this land, (G)a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 So now behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground (H)which You, O Yahweh, have given me.’ And you shall set it down before Yahweh your God and worship before Yahweh your God;
32 But remember (A)the former days, [a]when, after being (B)enlightened, you endured a great (C)conflict of sufferings, 33 partly by being (D)made a public spectacle through reproaches and afflictions, and partly by becoming (E)sharers with those who were so treated. 34 For you also (F)showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted with (G)joy the seizure of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves (H)a better and lasting possession. 35 Therefore, do not throw away that (I)confidence of yours, which has a great (J)reward. 36 For you have need of (K)endurance, so that when you have (L)done the will of God, you may (M)receive the promise.
37 (N)For yet in a very little while,
(O)He who is coming will come, and will not delay.
38 (P)But My righteous one shall live by faith,
And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.
39 But [b]we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the [c]preserving of the soul.
