Psalm 11

The Lord Is in His Holy Temple

To the choirmaster. Of David.

11 In the Lord I take refuge;
how can you say to my soul,
    (A)“Flee like a bird to your mountain,
for behold, the wicked (B)bend the bow;
    (C)they have fitted their arrow to the string
    to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart;
if (D)the foundations are destroyed,
    what can the righteous do?”[a]

(E)The Lord is in his holy temple;
    the Lord's (F)throne is in heaven;
    his eyes see, his eyelids (G)test the children of man.
The Lord (H)tests the righteous,
    but (I)his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.
Let him rain coals on the wicked;
    (J)fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be (K)the portion of their cup.
For the Lord is righteous;
he (L)loves righteous deeds;
    (M)the upright shall behold his face.

1 Kings 5:13-18

13 King Solomon drafted (A)forced labor out of all Israel, and the draft numbered 30,000 men. 14 And he sent them to Lebanon, 10,000 a month in shifts. They would be a month in Lebanon and two months at home. (B)Adoniram was in charge of the draft. 15 Solomon also (C)had 70,000 burden-bearers and 80,000 stonecutters in the hill country, 16 besides Solomon's 3,300 (D)chief officers who were over the work, (E)who had charge of the people who carried on the work. 17 At the king's command (F)they quarried out great, costly stones in order to lay the foundation of the house with dressed stones. 18 So Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and (G)the men of Gebal did the cutting and prepared the timber and the stone to build the house.

Ephesians 5:21-6:9

21 (A)submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Wives and Husbands

22 (B)Wives, (C)submit to your own husbands, (D)as to the Lord. 23 For (E)the husband is the head of the wife even as (F)Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is (G)himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit (H)in everything to their husbands.

25 (I)Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and (J)gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by (K)the washing of water (L)with the word, 27 so (M)that he might present the church to himself in splendor, (N)without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.[a] 28 In the same way (O)husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because (P)we are members of his body. 31 (Q)“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and (R)the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, (S)let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she (T)respects her husband.

Children and Parents

(U)Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. (V)“Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, (W)but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Bondservants and Masters

(X)Bondservants,[b] obey your earthly masters[c] with fear and trembling, (Y)with a sincere heart, (Z)as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as (AA)people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, (AB)knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, (AC)whether he is a bondservant or is free. Masters, do the same to them, (AD)and stop your threatening, knowing that (AE)he who is both their Master[d] and yours is in heaven, and that (AF)there is no partiality with him.
