Psalm 14

There Is No One Who Does Good

For the choir director. Of David.

14 The [a]wicked fool (A)says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They act corruptly, they commit abominable [b]deeds;
There is (B)no one who does good.
Yahweh (C)looks down from heaven upon the sons of men
To see if there is anyone who [c](D)has insight,
Anyone who (E)seeks after God.
They have all (F)turned aside, altogether they have become [d]worthless;
There is (G)no one who does good, not even one.

Do all the workers of iniquity (H)not know,
Who (I)eat up my people as they eat bread,
And (J)do not call upon Yahweh?
There they are in great dread,
For God is with the (K)righteous generation.
You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted,
But Yahweh is his (L)refuge.

Oh, that (M)the salvation of Israel [e]would come out of Zion!
When Yahweh [f](N)restores His captive people,
May Jacob rejoice, may Israel be glad.

2 Samuel 10:1-5

The Ammonites Dishonor David’s Men

10 (A)Now it happened afterwards, that (B)the king of the sons of Ammon died, and Hanun his son became king in his place. So David said, “I will show lovingkindness to Hanun the son of (C)Nahash, just as his father showed lovingkindness to me.” So David sent to comfort him concerning his father by the hand of his servants. And David’s servants came to the land of the sons of Ammon. But the princes of the sons of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, “In your eyes, is David honoring your father because he has sent comforters to you? (D)Has David not sent his servants to you in order to search the city, to spy it out and overthrow it?” So Hanun took David’s servants and (E)shaved off half of their beards, and (F)cut off their garments in the middle as far as their hips, and sent them away. Then they told it to David. And he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly dishonored. And the king said, “[a]Stay at Jericho until your beards grow, and then return.”

Colossians 1:9-14

For this reason also, (A)since the day we heard, (B)we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the [a](C)full knowledge of His will in all spiritual (D)wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you may (E)walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, [b](F)to please Him in all respects, (G)bearing fruit in every good work and [c]multiplying in the [d]full knowledge of God; 11 (H)being strengthened with all power, according to [e]His glorious might, [f]for the attaining of all steadfastness and [g]patience; (I)joyously 12 giving thanks to (J)the Father, who has qualified us [h]to share in (K)the inheritance of the [i]saints in (L)light. 13 Who rescued us from the (M)authority of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of (N)the Son of His love, 14 (O)in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
