Psalm 89:20-37

20 (A)I have found David, my servant;
    with my holy oil I have (B)anointed him,
21 so that my (C)hand shall be established with him;
    my arm also shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not outwit him;
    (D)the wicked shall not humble him.
23 I will (E)crush his foes before him
    and strike down those who hate him.
24 My (F)faithfulness and my (G)steadfast love shall be with him,
    and in my name shall his (H)horn be exalted.
25 I will set his hand on (I)the sea
    and his right hand on (J)the rivers.
26 He shall cry to me, ‘You are my (K)Father,
    my God, and (L)the Rock of my salvation.’
27 And I will make him the (M)firstborn,
    (N)the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 My steadfast love I will keep for him forever,
    and my (O)covenant will stand firm[a] for him.
29 I will establish his (P)offspring forever
    and his (Q)throne as (R)the days of the heavens.
30 (S)If his children forsake my law
    and do not walk according to my rules,[b]
31 if they violate my statutes
    and do not keep my commandments,
32 then I will punish their transgression with (T)the rod
    and their iniquity with stripes,
33 but I will not remove from him my steadfast love
    or be false to my faithfulness.
34 I will not violate my (U)covenant
    or alter the word that went forth from my lips.
35 Once for all I have sworn (V)by my holiness;
    I will not (W)lie to David.
36 His (X)offspring shall endure forever,
    (Y)his (Z)throne as long as (AA)the sun before me.
37 Like (AB)the moon it shall be established forever,
    (AC)a faithful witness in the skies.” Selah

1 Chronicles 15:1-2

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

15 David[a] built houses for himself in the city of David. And he prepared a place for the ark of God and (A)pitched a tent for it. Then David said that no one but the Levites may carry (B)the ark of God, for the Lord had chosen them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister to him forever.

1 Chronicles 16:4-13

Then he appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the Lord, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel. (A)Asaph was the chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals, and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God. Then on that day (B)David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the Lord by Asaph and his brothers.

David's Song of Thanks

(C)Oh give thanks to the Lord; (D)call upon his name;
    (E)make known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him, sing praises to him;
    tell of all his wondrous works!
10 Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
11 (F)Seek the Lord and his strength;
    seek his presence continually!
12 (G)Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
    (H)his miracles and the judgments he uttered,
13 O offspring of Israel his servant,
    children of Jacob, his chosen ones!

Luke 18:35-43

Jesus Heals a Blind Beggar

35 (A)As he drew near to Jericho, (B)a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant. 37 They told him, (C)“Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” 38 And he cried out, “Jesus, (D)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 And those who were in front (E)rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him, 41 (F)“What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me recover my sight.” 42 And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; (G)your faith has (H)made you well.” 43 And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, (I)glorifying God. And (J)all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
