The Song of the Bow
17 Then David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son, 18 (A)and he told them to teach the children of Judah the Song of the Bow; indeed it is written (B)in the Book [a]of Jasher:
19 “The beauty of Israel is slain on your high places!
(C)How the mighty have fallen!
20 (D)Tell it not in Gath,
Proclaim it not in the streets of (E)Ashkelon—
Lest (F)the daughters of the Philistines rejoice,
Lest the daughters of (G)the uncircumcised triumph.
21 “O (H)mountains of Gilboa,
(I)Let there be no dew nor rain upon you,
Nor fields of offerings.
For the shield of the mighty is [b]cast away there!
The shield of Saul, not (J)anointed with oil.
22 From the blood of the slain,
From the fat of the mighty,
(K)The bow of Jonathan did not turn back,
And the sword of Saul did not return empty.
23 “Saul and Jonathan were beloved and pleasant in their lives,
And in their (L)death they were not divided;
They were swifter than eagles,
They were (M)stronger than lions.
24 “O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul,
Who clothed you in scarlet, with luxury;
Who put ornaments of gold on your apparel.
25 “How the mighty have fallen in the midst of the battle!
Jonathan was slain in your high places.
26 I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan;
You have been very pleasant to me;
(N)Your love to me was wonderful,
Surpassing the love of women.
27 “How(O) the mighty have fallen,
And the weapons of war perished!”

130 Out (A)of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;
2 Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.
3 (B)If You, Lord, should [a]mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could (C)stand?
4 But there is (D)forgiveness with You,
That (E)You may be feared.
7 But as (A)you abound in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us—see (B)that you abound in this grace also.
Christ Our Pattern
8 (C)I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, (D)that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become (E)rich.
10 And in this (F)I give advice: (G)It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and (H)were desiring to do a year ago; 11 but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have. 12 For (I)if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.
13 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; 14 but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality. 15 As it is written, (J)“He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”
A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed(A)
21 (B)Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea. 22 (C)And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and (D)lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him.
25 Now a certain woman (E)had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and (F)touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the [a]affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that (G)power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, (H)fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, (I)your faith has made you well. (J)Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
35 (K)While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only (L)believe.” 37 And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. 38 Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw [b]a tumult and those who (M)wept and wailed loudly. 39 When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but (N)sleeping.”
40 And they ridiculed Him. (O)But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. 41 Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were (P)overcome with great amazement. 43 But (Q)He commanded them strictly that no one should know it, and said that something should be given her to eat.
