Psalm 33:12-22

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
    the people whom He has chosen as His inheritance.
13 The Lord looks from heaven;
    He sees all the sons of men.
14 From the place of His habitation He gazes
    on all the inhabitants of the earth;
15 He fashions their hearts alike;
    He considers all their works.

16 No king is saved by a great army;
    a mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
17 A horse is a vain hope for safety;
    it will not deliver by its great strength.
18 The eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
    on those who hope in His lovingkindness,
19 to deliver their soul from death,
    and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waits for the Lord;
    He is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart will rejoice in Him,
    because we have trusted in His holy name.
22 Let Your lovingkindness, O Lord, be on us,
    just as we hope in You.

Job 37:1-13

37 “At this also my heart trembles
    and moves out of its place.
Hear attentively the thunder of His voice,
    and the sound that goes out of His mouth.
He lets it loose under the whole heaven,
    and His lightning unto the ends of the earth.
After it a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice,
    and He does not restrain them when His voice is heard.
God thunders marvelously with His voice;
    He does great things that we cannot comprehend.
For He says to the snow, ‘Come on the earth,’
    likewise to the gentle rain and to the heavy rain of His strength.
He seals up the hand of every man,
    that all men may know His work.
Then the beasts go into dens
    and remain in their places.
Out of the south comes the whirlwind,
    and cold out of the north.
10 By the breath of God frost is given,
    and the broad waters are frozen.
11 Also He loads the thick clouds with moisture;
    He scatters His bright clouds,
12 and they are turned about by His guidance,
    that they may do whatever He commands them
    upon the face of the inhabited earth.
13 He causes it to come, whether for correction,
    or for His land or for mercy.

1 Corinthians 15:50-57

50 Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible will put on incorruption, and this mortal will put on immortality. 54 When this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then the saying that is written shall come to pass: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”[a]

55 “O death, where is your sting?
    O grave, where is your victory?”[b]

56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
