20 And God spoke all these words, saying,

² I am Jehovah thy God, who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

³ Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

⁴ Thou shalt not make thyself any graven image, or any form of what is in the heavens above, or what is in the earth beneath, or what is in the waters under the earth:

⁵ thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, Jehovah thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and to the fourth [generation] of them that hate me,

⁶ and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

⁷ Thou shalt not idly utter the name of Jehovah thy God; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that idly uttereth his name.

⁸ Remember the sabbath day to hallow it.

⁹ Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;

¹⁰ but the seventh day is the sabbath of Jehovah thy God: thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy bondman, nor thy handmaid, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.

¹¹ For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

¹² Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be prolonged in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

¹³ Thou shalt not kill.

¹⁴ Thou shalt not commit adultery.

¹⁵ Thou shalt not steal.

¹⁶ Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

¹⁷ Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's wife, nor his bondman, nor his handmaid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour's.

19 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the expanse sheweth the work of his hands.

² Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

³ There is no speech and there are no words, yet their voice is heard.

⁴ Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their language to the extremity of the world. In them hath he set a tent for the sun,

⁵ And he is as a bridegroom going forth from his chamber; he rejoiceth as a strong man to run the race.

⁶ His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

⁷ The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple;

⁸ The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes;

⁹ The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of Jehovah are truth, they are righteous altogether:

¹⁰ They are more precious than gold, yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey and the dropping of the honeycomb.

¹¹ Moreover, by them is thy servant enlightened; in keeping them there is great reward.

¹² Who understandeth [his] errors? Purify me from secret [faults].

¹³ Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be perfect, and I shall be innocent from great transgression.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer.

¹⁸ For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but to us that are saved it is God's power.

¹⁹ For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and set aside the understanding of the understanding ones.

²⁰ Where [is the] wise? where scribe? where disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

²¹ For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom has not known God, God has been pleased by the foolishness of the preaching to save those that believe.

²² Since Jews indeed ask for signs, and Greeks seek wisdom;

²³ but *we* preach Christ crucified, to Jews an offence, and to nations foolishness;

²⁴ but to those that [are] called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ God's power and God's wisdom.

²⁵ Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

¹³ And the passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ And he found in the temple the sellers of oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting;

¹⁵ and, having made a scourge of cords, he cast [them] all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the change of the money-changers, and overturned the tables,

¹⁶ and said to the sellers of doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.

¹⁷ [And] his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thy house devours me.

¹⁸ The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign shewest thou to us, that thou doest these things?

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

²⁰ The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple building, and thou wilt raise it up in three days?

²¹ But *he* spoke of the temple of his body.

²² When therefore he was raised from among [the] dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.
