Version
Isaiah 64:1-9

64 If only you would tear the heavens open
and come down,(A)
so that mountains would quake at your presence(B)
just as fire kindles brushwood,
and fire boils water—
to make your name known to your enemies,
so that nations would tremble at your presence!
When you did awesome works(C)
that we did not expect,
you came down,(D)
and the mountains quaked at your presence.
From ancient times no one has heard,
no one has listened to,
no eye has seen any God except you
who acts on behalf of the one who waits for him.(E)
You welcome the one who joyfully does what is right;
they remember you in your ways.
But we have sinned, and you were angry.
How can we be saved if we remain in our sins?[a]
All of us have become like something unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like a polluted[b] garment;(F)
all of us wither like a leaf,(G)
and our iniquities(H) carry us away like the wind.
No one calls on your name,
striving to take hold of you.
For you have hidden your face from us(I)
and made us melt because of[c][d] our iniquity.
Yet Lord, you are our Father;(J)
we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we all are the work of your hands.(K)
Lord, do not be terribly angry
or remember our iniquity forever.(L)
Please look—all of us are your people!

Psalm 80:1-7

Psalm 80

A Prayer for Restoration

For the choir director: according to “The Lilies.”(A) A testimony of Asaph.(B) A psalm.

Listen, Shepherd of Israel,
who leads Joseph like a flock;(C)
you who sit enthroned between the cherubim,(D)
shine(E) on Ephraim,
Benjamin, and Manasseh.(F)
Rally your power and come to save us.(G)
Restore us, God;
make your face shine on us,(H)
so that we may be saved.(I)

Lord God of Armies,
how long will you be angry
with your people’s prayers?(J)
You fed them the bread of tears
and gave them a full measure[a]
of tears to drink.(K)
You put us at odds with our neighbors;
our enemies mock us.(L)
Restore us, God of Armies;
make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.(M)

Psalm 80:17-19

17 Let your hand be with the man at your right hand,
with the son of man
you have made strong for yourself.(A)
18 Then we will not turn away from you;
revive us, and we will call on your name.(B)
19 Restore us, Lord, God of Armies;(C)
make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.(D)

1 Corinthians 1:3-9

Grace to you and peace from God our Father(A) and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving

I always thank(B) my God for you because of the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in him(C) in every way, in all speech and all knowledge.(D) In this way, the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you,(E) so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait(F) for the revelation(G) of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will also strengthen you to the end,(H) so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.(I) God is faithful;(J) you were called by him(K) into fellowship with his Son,(L) Jesus Christ our Lord.

Mark 13:24-37

The Coming of the Son of Man

24 “But in those days, after that tribulation:(A) The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; 25 the stars(B) will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.(C) 26 Then they will see the Son of Man(D) coming(E) in clouds(F) with great power(G) and glory.(H) 27 He will send out the angels(I) and gather his elect(J) from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.(K)

The Parable of the Fig Tree

28 “Learn(L) this lesson(M) from the fig(N) tree: As soon as its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.(O) 29 In the same way, when you see these things happening, recognize[a] that he[b] is near—at the door.

30 “Truly I tell you,(P) this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth(Q) will pass away,(R) but my words will never pass away.(S)

No One Knows the Day or Hour

32 “Now concerning that day(T) or hour no one knows—neither the angels(U) in heaven nor the Son(V) —but only the Father.(W)

33 “Watch! Be alert![c] For you don’t know when the time(X) is coming.(Y)

34 “It is like(Z) a man on a journey, who left his house, gave authority to his servants,(AA) gave each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to be alert. 35 Therefore be alert,(AB) since you don’t know when the master(AC) of the house is coming—whether in the evening or at midnight or at the crowing of the rooster or early in the morning. 36 Otherwise, when he comes suddenly he might find you sleeping.(AD) 37 And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Be alert!”
