Psalm 90:1-6

Book 4: Psalms 90–106

God Is Eternal, and We Are Not

A prayer of Moses, the man of God.

90 Lord, you have been our ·home [dwelling place; Deut. 33:27]
    ·since the beginning [L from all generations].
Before the mountains were born
    and before you ·created [brought forth] the earth and the world,
you are God [Prov. 8:22–31].
    You have always been, and you will always be.

You turn people back into ·dust [L what is crushed; Gen. 2:7; 3:19; Eccl. 12:7].
    You say, “·Go back into dust [L Return; Turn back], human beings.”
·To you [L In your eyes], a thousand years
    is like the passing of a day [2 Pet. 3:8],
    or ·like a few hours [L a watch; C the night was divided into four watches of three hours each] in the night.
While people sleep, you ·take [put an end to] their lives.
    They are like grass that ·grows up [is new] in the morning.
In the morning they ·are fresh and new [blossom and are renewed],
    but by evening they ·dry up [fade] and ·die [wither].

Psalm 90:13-17

13 Lord, how long before you ·return [turn]
    and show ·kindness [compassion] to your servants?
14 ·Fill [Satisfy] us with your ·love [loyalty] every morning.
    Then we will sing and rejoice all our ·lives [L days].
15 We have seen years of ·trouble [harm; hurt].
    Now give us as ·much [L many days of] joy as you gave us ·sorrow [affliction].
16 Show your servants ·the wonderful things you do [your miracles];
    ·show your greatness [your splendor/beauty] to their children.
17 Lord our God, ·treat us well [favor us].
    ·Give us success in what we do [L Establish the work of our hands for us];
·yes, give us success in what we do [L establish the work of our hands].

Deuteronomy 32:1-14

32 ·Hear [L Give ear], heavens, and I will speak. Listen, earth, to ·what I say [L the words of my mouth].

My teaching will drop like rain;
    my words will ·fall [distill] like dew.
They will be like showers on the grass;
    they will pour down like rain on young plants.
I will announce the name of the Lord.
    ·Praise God because he is great [L Ascribe greatness to our God]!
He is like a rock; what he does is perfect,
    and ·he is always [L all his ways are] fair.
He is a faithful God who does no wrong,
    who is ·right [righteous] and ·fair [virtuous].

They ·have done evil against him [are corrupt].
    ·To their shame [or Their faults show] they are no longer his children [Is. 1:2–4; Hos. 1:9];
    they are an ·evil [perverted] and ·lying [crooked] people.
This is not the way to repay the Lord,
    you foolish and unwise people.
·He is [L Is he not…?] your Father and Maker,
    who made you and formed you.

Remember the old days.
    Think of the years already passed.
Ask your father and he will tell you;
    ask your elders and they will inform you.
God Most High gave ·the nations their lands [L each nation its inheritance],
    dividing up the ·human race [L sons of man].
He set up borders for the people
    ·and even numbered the Israelites[a] [L according to the number of the sons/T children of Israel].
The Lord took his people as his ·share [portion],
    the people of Jacob as his ·very own [L special inheritance].

10 He found them in a ·desert [wilderness],
    a windy, ·empty [unformed; Gen. 1:2] land.
He surrounded them and brought them up,
    guarding them as ·those he loved very much [L the apple/pupil of his eye].
11 He was like an eagle ·building [watching; stirring up] its nest
    that ·flutters [hovers] over its young.
It spreads its wings to catch them
    and carries them on its feathers.
12 The Lord alone led them,
    and there was no foreign god ·helping [L with] him.

13 The Lord ·brought them to [or made them ride over] the heights of the land
    and fed them the fruit of the fields.
He ·gave them [suckled them with] honey from the rocks,
    bringing oil from the ·solid [flint] rock.
14 There were milk curds from the cows and milk from the flock;
    there were fat sheep and goats.
There were sheep and goats from Bashan [C a particularly fertile area east of the Sea of Galilee]
    and the best of the wheat.
You drank the ·juice [L fermenting/foaming blood] of grapes [C wine].

Deuteronomy 32:18

18 You left God who is the Rock, ·your Father [L who bore you; or who begot you],
    and you forgot the God who gave you birth.

Titus 2:7-8

In every way be an example of doing good deeds. When you teach, do it with ·honesty [integrity] and ·seriousness [dignity]. Speak ·the truth [a sound message] so that you cannot be ·criticized [condemned]. Then those who are against you will be ashamed because there is nothing bad to say about us.

Titus 2:11-15

11 ·That is the way we should live, because [L For] God’s grace that can save everyone has ·come [appeared; been revealed]. 12 It ·teaches [trains; disciplines] us to ·turn away from [reject; deny] ungodly living and ·the evil things the world wants to do [or worldly desires; sinful pleasures]. Instead, that grace teaches us to live in the present age in a ·wise [self-controlled] and ·right [upright; just] way and in a ·way that shows we serve God [godly manner]. 13 We should live like that while we wait for our ·great [happy; blessed] hope and the ·coming of the glory [glorious appearing/manifestation] of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. 14 He gave himself for us so he might ·pay the price to free [redeem; ransom] us from all ·evil [wickedness; lawlessness] and to make us pure people who belong only to him—people who are always ·wanting [eager; zealous] to do good deeds.

15 Say these things and ·encourage [exhort] the people and ·tell them what is wrong in their lives [rebuke/admonish them], with all authority. Do not let anyone ·treat you as if you were unimportant [look down on/despise/disregard you].
