Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
In My Distress I Sought the Lord
For the choir director. According to [a]Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A Psalm.
77 My voice rises to God, and I must (A)cry aloud;
My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.
2 In the (B)day of my distress I sought the Lord;
(C)In the night my (D)hand was stretched out [b]without weariness;
My soul (E)refused to be comforted.
3 I remember God and I am (F)disturbed;
I (G)muse and (H)my spirit faints. [c]Selah.
4 You have held my eyelids open;
I am so troubled that I (I)cannot speak.
5 I give thought to the (J)days of old,
The years of long ago.
6 I remember my (K)music in the night;
I (L)am musing with my heart,
And my spirit is searching:
7 Will the Lord (M)reject evermore?
And will He (N)not be favorable again?
8 Has His (O)lovingkindness ceased forever?
Has His [d](P)word ended [e]from generation to generation?
9 Has God (Q)forgotten to be gracious,
Or has He in anger shut up His (R)compassion? Selah.
10 Then I said, “(S)It is my [f]grief,
That the (T)right hand of the Most High has changed.”
11 I shall remember the (U)deeds of Yah;
Surely I will (V)remember Your wonders of old.
12 I will (W)meditate on all Your work
And muse on Your deeds.
13 O God, Your way is (X)holy;
(Y)What god is great like God?
14 You are the (Z)God who works wonders;
You have (AA)made known Your strength among the peoples.
15 You have by Your arm (AB)redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and (AC)Joseph. Selah.
16 The (AD)waters saw You, O God;
The waters saw You, they were in anguish;
The deeps also trembled.
17 The (AE)clouds poured out water;
The skies (AF)gave forth a sound;
Your (AG)arrows went here and there.
18 The (AH)sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
The (AI)lightnings lit up the world;
The (AJ)earth trembled and shook.
19 Your (AK)way was in the sea
And Your paths in the mighty waters,
But Your footprints were not known.
20 You (AL)led Your people like a flock
By the hand of (AM)Moses and Aaron.
9 “(A)You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt,
And (B)heard their cry by the [a]Red Sea.
10 Then You performed (C)signs and wonders against Pharaoh,
Against all his servants and all the people of his land;
For You knew that (D)they acted presumptuously toward them,
And (E)made a name for Yourself as it is this day.
11 (F)You split the sea before them,
So they passed through the midst of the sea on dry land;
And (G)their pursuers You cast into the depths,
Like a stone into mighty waters.
12 And with a pillar of cloud (H)You led them by day,
And with a pillar of fire by night
To light for them the way
In which they were to go.
13 Then (I)You came down on Mount Sinai,
And (J)spoke with them from heaven;
You gave them (K)upright judgments and true laws,
Good statutes and commandments.
14 So You made known to them (L)Your holy sabbath,
And commanded to them commandments, statutes and law,
By the hand of Your servant Moses.
15 You (M)gave bread from heaven for them for their hunger,
You (N)brought forth water from a rock for them for their thirst,
And You (O)said to them to enter in order to possess
The land which You [b]swore to give them.
13 Therefore let us not (A)judge one another anymore, but rather judge this—(B)not to put a stumbling block or offense before a brother. 14 I know and am convinced [a]in the Lord Jesus that (C)nothing is defiled in itself; but to him who (D)considers anything to be defiled, to him it is defiled. 15 For if because of food your brother is grieved, you are no longer (E)walking according to love. (F)Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore (G)do not let what is for you a good thing be [b]slandered; 17 for the kingdom of God (H)is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and (I)peace and (J)joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who in this way (K)serves Christ is (L)pleasing to God and approved by men. 19 So then [c]let us (M)pursue the things which make for peace and the (N)building up of one another. 20 (O)Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. (P)All things indeed are clean, but (Q)they are evil for the man who eats [d]and gives offense. 21 (R)It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles. 22 The faith which you have, have [e]as your own conviction before God. Blessed is he who (S)does not judge himself in what he approves. 23 But (T)he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.
Bearing the Weaknesses of Others
15 Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of (U)those without strength and not just please ourselves. 2 Each of us is to (V)please his neighbor [f]for his good, to his (W)building up.
