^19 (A)Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, ²⁰ coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night^[a] without one coming near the other all night.

²¹ Then Moses ^(B)stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by ^(C)a strong east wind all night and ^(D)made the sea dry land, and the waters were ^(E)divided. ²² And ^(F)the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being ^(G)a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. ²³ The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. ²⁴ And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, ²⁵ clogging^[b] their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the ^(H)Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”

²⁶ Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(I)“Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” ^27 (J)So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea ^(K)returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord ^(L)threw^[c] the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. ²⁸ The ^(M)waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, ^(N)not one of them remained. ²⁹ But the ^(O)people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

³⁰ Thus the Lord ^(P)saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. ^31 (Q)Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they ^(R)believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.

The Song of Moses

15 Then Moses and the people of Israel ^(A)sang this song to the Lord, saying,

²⁰ Then ^(A)Miriam ^(B)the prophetess, the ^(C)sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and ^(D)all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. ²¹ And Miriam sang to them:

Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another

14 As for ^(A)the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. ^2 (B)One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. ³ Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and ^(C)let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. ^4 (D)Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master^[a] that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

^5 (E)One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. ^(F)Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. ⁶ The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since ^(G)he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. ⁷ For ^(H)none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. ⁸ For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, ^(I)whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. ⁹ For to this end Christ ^(J)died and lived again, that he might be Lord both ^(K)of the dead and of the living.

¹⁰ Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For ^(L)we will all stand before ^(M)the judgment seat of God; ¹¹ for it is written,

¹² So then ^(O)each of us will give an account of himself to God.

The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant

²¹ Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often ^(A)will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? ^(B)As many as seven times?” ²² Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.

²³ “Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished ^(C)to settle accounts with his servants.^{[a] 24} When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ^(D)ten thousand ^(E)talents.^{[b] 25 (F)}And since he could not pay, his master ordered him ^(G)to be sold, with his wife and ^(H)children and all that he had, and payment to be made. ²⁶ So the servant^{[c] (I)}fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ ²⁷ And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and ^(J)forgave him the debt. ²⁸ But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred ^(K)denarii,^[d] and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ ²⁹ So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ ³⁰ He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. ³¹ When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. ³² Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. ^33 (L)And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ ^34 (M)And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers,^{[e] (N)}until he should pay all his debt. ^35 (O)So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother ^(P)from your heart.”
