Psalm 149

Praise with Singing and Dancing

Psalm 149

Halleluyah! Sing to Adonai a new song,
His praise in the assembly of the kedoshim.
Let Israel rejoice in its Maker.
Let the children of Zion be glad in their King.
Let them praise His Name with dancing.
Let them sing praises to Him with tambourine and harp.
For Adonai takes pleasure in His people.
He crowns the humble with salvation.
Let the kedoshim exult in glory.
Let them sing for joy on their beds.
Let God’s high praises be in their mouth
and a two-edged sword in their hand—
to execute vengeance upon the nations
    and rebukes on the peoples,
to bind their kings with chains
and their nobles with fetters of iron,
to carry out the sentence decreed—
this is the glory of all His kedoshim.
Halleluyah!

Exodus 10:21-29

21 Then Adonai said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, and there will be darkness over the land of Egypt—a darkness that may be felt.”

22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days. 23 They could not see one another, nor could anyone rise from his place for three days. Yet all Bnei-Yisrael had light within their dwellings.

24 Pharaoh called Moses and said, “Go, serve Adonai. Only let your flocks and your herds remain. Your little ones may also go with you.”

25 But Moses said, “You must also put sacrifices and burnt offerings into our hand, then we will do it for Adonai our God. 26 Our cattle must also go with us—not a hoof may be left behind. We must take from them to serve Adonai our God. We ourselves will not know how we will serve Adonai until we arrive there.”

27 But Adonai hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he was unwilling to let them go. 28 So Pharaoh said to him, “Go away from me! Take heed never to see my face again, because on the day you do, you will die!”

29 “Right!” Moses said. “You said it! May I never see your face again!”

Romans 10:15-21

15 And how shall they proclaim unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who proclaim good news of good things!” [a] 16 But not all heeded the Good News. For Isaiah says, “Adonai, who has believed our report?” [b] 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Messiah.

18 But I say, have they never heard? Indeed they have, for

“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
and their words to the ends of the world.”[c]

19 But I say, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,

“I will provoke you to jealousy
by those who are not a nation,
with a nation empty of understanding
    I will vex you.”[d]
20 And Isaiah is so bold as to say,
“I was found by those who did not seek Me;
I became visible to those who did not ask for Me.”[e]
21 But about Israel He says,
“All day long I stretched forth My hands
to a disobedient and contrary people.”[f]
