Psalm 8

How Majestic Is Your Name

To the choirmaster: according to The (A)Gittith.[a] A Psalm of David.

O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your (B)name in all the earth!
You have set your (C)glory above the heavens.
(D)Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established (E)strength because of your foes,
to still (F)the enemy and the avenger.

When I (G)look at your heavens, the work of your (H)fingers,
the moon and the stars, (I)which you have set in place,
(J)what is man that you are (K)mindful of him,
and (L)the son of man that you (M)care for him?

Yet you have made him a little lower than (N)the heavenly beings[b]
and crowned him with (O)glory and honor.
You have given him (P)dominion over the works of your hands;
(Q)you have put all things under his feet,
all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Exodus 2:11-15

Moses Flees to Midian

11 One day, (A)when Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and looked on their (B)burdens, and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people.[a] 12 He looked this way and that, and seeing no one, he (C)struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 When (D)he went out the next day, behold, two Hebrews were struggling together. And he said to the man in the wrong, “Why do you strike your companion?” 14 He answered, (E)“Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid, and thought, “Surely the thing is known.” 15 When Pharaoh heard of it, he sought to kill Moses. But (F)Moses fled from Pharaoh and stayed in the land of Midian. And he sat down by (G)a well.

Romans 11:33-36

33 Oh, the depth of the riches and (A)wisdom and knowledge of God! (B)How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

34 “For (C)who has known the mind of the Lord,
or (D)who has been his counselor?”
35 “Or (E)who has given a gift to him
    that he might be repaid?”

36 For (F)from him and through him and to him are all things. (G)To him be glory forever. Amen.
