Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
8 They who inhabit the (A)ends of the earth are in fear on account of Your signs;
You make [a]the dawn and the sunset shout for joy.
9 You visit the earth and (B)cause it to overflow;
You greatly (C)enrich it;
The [b](D)stream of God is full of water;
You establish their (E)grain, for thus You establish [c]the earth.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
You smooth its ridges,
You soften it (F)with showers,
You bless its growth.
11 You crown the year [d]with Your (G)goodness,
And Your [e]paths (H)drip with richness.
12 (I)The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the (J)hills gird themselves with rejoicing.
13 The meadows are (K)clothed with flocks
And the valleys are (L)covered with grain;
They (M)make a loud shout, indeed, they sing.
37 Then Jacob [a]took fresh rods of poplar and almond and plane trees, and he peeled white stripes in them, exposing the white which was [b]in the rods. 38 And he set the rods which he had peeled in front of the flocks in the trough, that is, in the watering channels, where the flocks came to drink; and they [c]mated when they came to drink. 39 So the flocks [d]mated by the rods, and the flocks brought forth striped, speckled, and spotted. 40 And Jacob separated the lambs, and he [e]made the flocks face toward the striped and all the black in the flock of Laban; and he set his own herds apart and did not set them with Laban’s flock. 41 Now it would be that, whenever the [f]stronger of the flock [g]were mating, Jacob would place the rods in the sight of the flock in the trough, so that they might [h]mate by the rods; 42 but when the flock was feeble, he did not put them in; so the feebler were Laban’s and the [i]stronger Jacob’s. 43 So (A)the man (B)spread out exceedingly and had large flocks and female and male servants and camels and donkeys.
The Armor of God
10 Finally, (A)be strong in the Lord and in (B)the might of His strength. 11 (C)Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the (D)schemes of the devil. 12 For our (E)struggle is not against [a](F)flesh and blood, but (G)against the rulers, against the authorities, against the (H)world forces of this (I)darkness, against the (J)spiritual forces of wickedness in (K)the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up (L)the full armor of God, so that you will be able to (M)resist in (N)the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, (O)having girded your loins with truth, and having (P)put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having (Q)shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. 16 [b]In addition to all, having taken up the (R)shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the (S)flaming arrows of (T)the evil one, 17 also receive (U)the helmet of salvation, and the (V)sword of the Spirit, which is (W)the word of God,
18 (X)praying at all times [c]with all (Y)prayer and petition (Z)in the Spirit, and to this end, (AA)being on the alert with all (AB)perseverance and (AC)petition for all the saints,
