Psalm 105:1-11

Psalm 105[a]

God’s Fidelity to the Promise

I

Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;(A)
    make known among the peoples his deeds!(B)
Sing praise to him, play music;
    proclaim all his wondrous deeds!
Glory in his holy name;
    let hearts that seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek out the Lord and his might;
    constantly seek his face.(C)
Recall the wondrous deeds he has done,
    his wonders and words of judgment,
You descendants of Abraham his servant,
    offspring of Jacob the chosen one!

II

He the Lord, is our God
    whose judgments reach through all the earth.
He remembers forever his covenant,
    the word he commanded for a thousand generations,
Which he made with Abraham,
    and swore to Isaac,(D)
10 And ratified in a statute for Jacob,
    an everlasting covenant for Israel:
11 “To you I give the land of Canaan,
    your own allotted inheritance.”(E)

Psalm 105:45

45 That they might keep his statutes
    and observe his teachings.(A)
Hallelujah!

Genesis 29:1-8

Chapter 29

Arrival in Haran.[a] (A)After Jacob resumed his journey, he came to the land of the Kedemites. Looking about, he saw a well in the open country, with three flocks of sheep huddled near it, for flocks were watered from that well. A large stone covered the mouth of the well.(B) When all the shepherds were assembled there they would roll the stone away from the mouth of the well and water the sheep. Then they would put the stone back again in its place over the mouth of the well.

Jacob said to them, “My brothers, where are you from?” “We are from Haran,” they replied. Then he asked them, “Do you know Laban, son of Nahor?” “We do,” they answered.(C) He inquired further, “Is he well?” “He is,” they answered; “and here comes his daughter Rachel with the sheep.” Then he said: “There is still much daylight left; it is hardly the time to bring the animals home. Water the sheep, and then continue pasturing them.” They replied, “We cannot until all the shepherds are here to roll the stone away from the mouth of the well; then can we water the flocks.”

1 Corinthians 4:14-20

14 I am writing you this not to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.[a] 15 Even if you should have countless guides to Christ, yet you do not have many fathers, for I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.(A) 16 Therefore, I urge you, be imitators of me.(B) 17 For this reason I am sending you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord; he will remind you of my ways in Christ [Jesus], just as I teach them everywhere in every church.(C)

18 [b]Some have become inflated with pride, as if I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you soon, if the Lord is willing, and I shall ascertain not the talk of these inflated people but their power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.(D)
