Psalm 142

142 The Prophet neither astonied with fear, nor carried away with anger, nor forced by desperation, would kill Saul: but with a quiet mind directed his earnest prayer to God, who did preserve him.

A Psalm of David, to give instruction, and a prayer when he was in the cave.

I cried unto the Lord with my voice: with my voice I [a]prayed unto the Lord.

I poured out my meditation before him, and declared mine affection in his presence.

Though my spirit [b]was in perplexity in me, yet thou knewest my path: in the way wherein I walked, have they privily laid a snare for me.

I looked upon my right hand, and beheld, but there was none that would know me: all refuge failed me, and [c]none cared for my soul.

Then cried I unto thee, O Lord, and said, Thou art mine [d]hope, and my portion in the land of the living.

Hearken unto my cry, for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.

Bring my soul out of [e]prison, that I may praise thy Name: then shall the righteous [f]come about me, when thou art beneficial unto me.

Obadiah 15-21

15 For the day [a]of the Lord is near, upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done to thee: thy reward shall return upon thine head.

16 For as ye have [b]drunk upon mine holy Mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually: yea, they shall drink and swallow up, and they shall be [c]as though they had not been.

17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holy, and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions,

18 And the house of Jacob shall be [d]a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau as stubble, and they shall kindle in them and devour them: and there shall be no remnant of the house of Esau: for the Lord hath spoken it.

19 And they shall possess the South side of the [e]mount of Esau, and the plain of the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria, and Benjamin shall have Gilead.

20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel, which were among the [f]Canaanites, shall possess unto Zarephath, and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.

21 And they [g]that shall save, shall come up to mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau, and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.

Matthew 13:10-17

10 ¶ Then the disciples came, and said to him, Why speakest thou to them in parables?

11 [a]And he answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12 (A)For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13 Therefore speak I to them in parables, because they seeing, do not see: and hearing, they hear not, neither understand.

14 So in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which prophecy saith, (B)By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand, and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive.

15 For this people’s heart is waxed fat, and their ears are dull of hearing, and with their eyes they have winked, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their hearts, and should return, that I might heal them.

16 [b]But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17 (C)For verily I say unto you, that many Prophets, and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them, and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
