Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
19 ¶ Likewise these are the generations of Isaac Abraham’s son. Abraham begat Isaac.
20 And Isaac was forty years old, when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the [a]Aramite of Padan Aram, and sister to Laban the Aramite.
21 And Isaac prayed unto the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22 But the children [b]strove together within her: therefore she said, Seeing it is so, why am I [c]thus? wherefore she went [d]to ask the Lord.
23 And the Lord said to her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be divided out of thy bowels, and the one people shall be mightier than the other, and the (A)elder shall serve the younger.
24 ¶ Therefore when her time of deliverance was fulfilled, behold, twins were in her womb.
25 So he that came out first was red, and he was all over as rough as a garment, and they called his name Esau.
26 (B)And afterward came his brother out, and his hand held Esau by the heel, therefore his name was called Jacob. Now Isaac was threescore years old when Rebekah bare them.
27 And the boys grew, and Esau was a cunning hunter, and [e]lived in the fields: but Jacob was a [f]plain man, and dwelt in tents.
28 And Isaac loved Esau, for [g]venison was his meat, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29 Now Jacob sod pottage, and Esau came from the field and was weary.
30 Then Esau said to Jacob, [h]Let me eat, I pray thee, of that pottage so red, for I am weary. Therefore was his name called Edom.
31 And Jacob said, Sell me even now thy birthright.
32 And Esau said, Lo, I am almost dead, what is then this [i]birthright to me?
33 Jacob then said, Swear to me even now. And he swear to him, (C)and [j]sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils: and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: So Esau contemned his birthright.

105 Thy word is a [a]lantern unto my feet, and a light unto my paths.
106 I have [b]sworn and will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
107 I am very sore afflicted: O Lord, quicken me according to thy word.
108 O Lord, I beseech thee, accept the [c]free offering of my mouth, and teach me thy judgments.
109 My [d]soul is continually in mine hand: yet do I not forget thy law.
110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: but I swerved not from thy precepts.
111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an [e]heritage forever: for they are the joy of mine heart.
112 I have applied mine heart to fulfill thy statutes always, even unto the end.
8 1 He concludeth that there is no condemnation to them, who are grafted in Christ through his Spirit, 3 howsoever they be as yet burdened with sins: 9 For they live through that Spirit, 14 Whose testimony, 15 driveth away all fear, 28 and relieveth our present miseries.
1 Now [a]then there is no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, which [b]walk not after the [c]flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 [d]For the [e]Law of the Spirit of [f]life which is in [g]Christ Jesus, hath [h]freed me from the Law of sin and of death.
3 [i]For (that that was [j]impossible to the Law, inasmuch as it was weak, because of the [k]flesh) God sending his own Son, in the similitude of [l]sinful flesh, and for [m]sin, [n]condemned sin in the flesh,
4 That that [o]righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled [p]in us, which walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 [q]For they that are after the [r]flesh, savor the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
6 [s]For the wisdom of the flesh is death: but the wisdom of the Spirit is life and peace,
7 [t]Because the wisdom of the flesh is enmity against God: [u]for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 [v]So then they that are in the flesh, cannot please God.
9 [w]Now ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, because the spirit of God dwelleth in you: but if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, the same is not his.
10 [x]And if Christ be in you, the [y]body is dead, because of sin: but the Spirit is life for righteousness sake.
11 [z]But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead, dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead, shall also quicken your mortal bodies, by his Spirit that [aa]dwelleth in you.

1 The (A)same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
2 [a]And great multitudes resorted unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat down: and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 Then he spake many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow.
4 And as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up.
5 And some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth, and anon they sprung up, because they had no depth of earth.
6 And when the sun was up, they were parched, and for lack of rooting withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprung up, and choked them.
8 And some again fell in good ground, and brought forth fruit, one corn an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and another thirtyfold.
9 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
18 ¶ (A)Hear ye therefore the parable of the Sower.
19 Whensoever any man heareth the word of that kingdom, and understandeth it not, that evil one cometh, and catcheth away that which was sown in his [a]heart: and this is he which hath received the seed by the way side.
20 And he that received seed in the stony ground, is he which heareth the word, and incontinently with joy receiveth it,
21 Yet hath he no root in himself, and endureth but a season: for as soon as tribulation or persecution cometh because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22 And he that received the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word: but the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he is made unfruitful.
23 But he that received the seed in the good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it, which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.
