Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
34 Then he said, I am Abraham’s servant,
35 And the Lord hath [a]blessed my master wonderfully, that he is become great: for he hath given him sheep, and beeves, and silver, and gold, and men servants, and maid servants, and camels, and asses.
36 And Sarah my master’s wife hath borne a son to my master, when she was old, and unto him hath he given all that he hath.
37 Now my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the [b]Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:
38 But thou shalt go unto my [c]father’s house and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son.
42 So I came this day to the well, and said, O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, if thou now prosper my [a]journey which I go,
43 Behold, (A)I stand by the well of water when a virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink,
44 And she said to me, Drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels, let her be the wife, which the Lord hath [b]prepared for thy master’s son.
45 And before I had made an end of speaking in mine [c]heart, behold, Rebekah came forth and her pitcher on her shoulder, and she went down to the well, and drew water. Then I said unto her, Give me drink, I pray thee.
46 And she made haste, and took down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also. So I drank, and she gave the camels drink also.
47 Then I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she answered, The daughter of Bethuel Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bare unto him. Then I put the abillement upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands:
48 [d]And I bowed down and worshipped the Lord, and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, which had brought me the [e]right way to take my master’s brother’s daughter unto his son.
49 Now therefore, if ye will deal [f]mercifully and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me, that I may turn me to the [g]right hand or to the left.
58 And they called Rebekah, and said unto her: Wilt thou go with this man? And [a]she answered, I will go.
59 So they let Rebekah their sister go, and her nurse, with Abraham’s servant and his men.
60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, grow into thousand thousand’s, and thy seed possess the [b]gate of his enemies.
61 ¶ Then Rebekah arose, and her maids, and rode upon the camels, and followed the man, and the servant took Rebekah and departed.
62 Now Isaac came from the way of (A)Beer Lahai Roi, (for he dwelt in the South country.)
63 And Isaac went out to [c]pray in the field toward the evening: who lift up his eyes and looked, and behold, the camels came.
64 Also Rebekah lift up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted down from the camel.
65 (For she had said to the servant, Who is yonder man, that cometh in the field to meet us? and the servant had said, It is my master) So she took [d]a veil, and covered her.
66 And the servant told Isaac all things, that he had done.
67 Afterward Isaac brought her into the tent, of Sarah his mother, and he took Rebekah, and she was his wife, and he loved her: So Isaac was [e]comforted after his mother’s death.
10 [a]Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear: forget also thine own people and thy father’s house.
11 So shall the King have pleasure in thy beauty: for he is thy Lord, and reverence thou him.
12 And the [b]daughter of [c]Tyre with the rich of the people, shall do homage before thy face with presents.
13 The King’s daughter is all glorious [d]within: her clothing is of broidered gold.
14 She shall be brought unto the King in raiment of needlework: the virgins that follow after her, and her companions shall be brought unto thee.
15 With joy and gladness shall they be brought, and shall enter into the king’s palace.
16 Instead of thy fathers shall thy [e]children be: thou shalt make them princes [f]through all the earth.
17 I will make thy [g]Name to be remembered through all generations: therefore shall the people give thanks unto thee, world without end.
8 [a]It is the voice of my well-beloved: behold, he cometh leaping by the mountains, and skipping by the hills.
9 My well-beloved is like a roe, or a young hart: lo, he [b]standeth behind our wall, looking forth of the windows, showing himself through the [c]grates.
10 My well-beloved spake and said unto me, Arise, my love, my fair one, and come thy way.
11 For behold, [d]winter is past: the rain is changed, and is gone away.
12 The flowers appear in the earth: the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.
13 The fig tree hath brought forth her young figs: and the vines with their small grapes have cast a savor: arise my love, my fair one, and come away.
15 [a]For I [b]allow not that which I do: for what I [c]would, that do I not: but what I hate, that do I.
16 If I do then that which I would not, I consent to the Law, that it is good.
17 Now then, it is no more I, that do it, but [d]sin that dwelleth in me.
18 [e]For I know, that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me: but I find [f]no means to perform that which is good,
19 For I do not the good thing, which I would, but the evil, which I would not, that do I.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but the sin that dwelleth in me.
21 [g]I find then that when I would do good, I am thus yoked, that evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the Law of God, concerning the [h]inner man.
23 But I see another Law in my members, rebelling against the law of my [i]mind, and leading me captive unto the law of sin, which is in my members.
24 [j]O [k]wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death!
25 I [l]thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Then I [m]myself in my mind serve the Law of God, but in my flesh the law of sin.
16 (A)[a]But whereunto shall I liken this generation? [b]It is like unto little children which sit in the markets, and call unto their fellows,
17 And say, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced, we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of men came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a glutton and a drinker of wine, a friend unto Publicans and sinners: [c]but [d]wisdom is justified of her children.
25 (A)At that time Jesus answered and said, I give thee thanks, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise, and men of understanding, and hast [a]opened them unto babes.
26 It is [b]so, O Father, because thy [c]good pleasure was such.
27 (B)[d]All things are given unto me of my Father: and (C)no man knoweth the Son, but the Father: neither knoweth any man the Father, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
28 Come unto me, all ye that are weary and laden, and I will ease you.
29 Take my yoke on you, and learn of me that I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find (D)rest unto your souls.
