Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
God Is King over All the Earth
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.
47 (B)Clap your hands, all peoples!
(C)Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
2 For the Lord, the Most High, (D)is to be feared,
(E)a great king over all the earth.
3 He (F)subdued peoples under us,
and nations under our feet.
4 He chose our (G)heritage for us,
(H)the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah
15 And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16 and said, (A)“By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring (B)as the stars of heaven and (C)as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess (D)the gate of his[a] enemies, 18 and (E)in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, (F)because you have obeyed my voice.”
9 Now concerning (A)brotherly love (B)you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been (C)taught by God (D)to love one another, 10 for that indeed is what (E)you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to (F)do this more and more, 11 and to aspire (G)to live quietly, and (H)to mind your own affairs, and (I)to work with your hands, as we instructed you, 12 so that you may (J)walk properly before (K)outsiders and be dependent on no one.
