Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Psalm 13
A Plea for Deliverance
For the choir director. A psalm of David.
1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?(A)
2 How long will I store up anxious concerns[a] within me,
agony in my mind every day?
How long will my enemy dominate me?(B)
18 Who is a God like you,(A)
forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion(B)
for the remnant of his inheritance?(C)
He does not hold on to his anger forever(D)
because he delights in faithful love.(E)
19 He will again have compassion on us;
he will vanquish our iniquities.(F)
You will cast all our[a] sins
into the depths of the sea.(G)
20 You will show loyalty to Jacob(H)
and faithful love to Abraham,
as you swore to our ancestors(I)
from days long ago.
2 Take note! I, Paul, am telling you that if you get yourselves circumcised, Christ will not benefit you at all. 3 Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to do the entire law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace.(A) 5 For we eagerly await(B) through the Spirit, by faith, the hope(C) of righteousness. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith(D) working through love.(E)
