Tree of Life Version (TLV)
Version
Psalm 119:41-48

VAV ו

41 May Your lovingkindnesses come to me, Adonai
Your salvation according to Your word—
42 so I may answer the one taunting me,
for I trust in Your word.
43 Never snatch out of my mouth a word of truth,
for I hope in Your judgments.
44 So I may always keep Your Torah,
forever and ever,
45 and walk about in freedom.
For I have sought Your precepts.
46 I will speak of Your testimonies
before kings, and never be ashamed.
47 I delight in Your mitzvot,
    which I love.
48 I reach out my hands for Your mitzvot,
    which I love,
and meditate on Your decrees.

Genesis 16:1-15

Hagar and Ishmael

16 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had not borne him children. But she had an Egyptian slave-girl—her name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, “Look now, Adonai has prevented me from having children. Go, please, to my slave-girl. Perhaps I’ll get a son by her.”

Abram listened to Sarai’s voice. So Sarai, Abram’s wife, took her slave-girl Hagar the Egyptian—after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan—and gave her to Abram her husband to be his wife. Then he went to Hagar and she became pregnant. When she saw that she was pregnant, in her eyes her mistress was belittled.

So Sarai said to Abram, “The wrong done to me is because of you! I myself placed my slave-girl in your embrace. Now that she saw that she became pregnant, so in her eyes I am belittled. May Adonai judge between you and me!”

Abram said to Sarai, “Look! Your slave-girl is in your hand. Do to her what is good in your eyes.”

So Sarai afflicted her, and she fled from her presence. Then the angel of Adonai[a] found her by the spring of water in the wilderness, next to the spring on the way to Shur. He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s slave-girl, where have you come from and where are you going?”

She said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.”

The angel of Adonai said, “Return to your mistress and humble yourself under her hand.” 10 Then the angel of Adonai said to her, “I will bountifully multiply your seed, and they will be too many to count.” 11 Then the angel of Adonai said to her,

Behold, you are pregnant
and about to bear a son,
and you shall name him Ishmael—
for Adonai has heard your affliction.
12 He will be a wild donkey of a man.
His hand will be against everyone,
    and everyone’s hand against him,
and away from all his brothers will he dwell.

13 So she called Adonai who was speaking to her, “You are the God who sees me.” For she said, “Would I have gone here indeed looking for Him who looks after me?” 14 That is why the well is named, the Well of the Living One Who Sees Me. (Behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.)

15 Then Hagar gave birth to a son for Abram, and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.

2 Corinthians 6:14-7:2

Preserving Sanctity in God’s Living Temple

14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.[a] For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? 15 What harmony does Messiah have with Belial[b]? Or what part does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement does God’s Temple have with idols?[c] For we are the temple of the living God—just as God said,

“I will dwell in them and walk among them;
and I will be their God,
and they shall be My people.[d]
17 Therefore, come out from among them,
    and be separate, says Adonai.
Touch no unclean thing.[e]
Then I will take you in.[f]
18 I will be a father to you,
and you shall be My sons and daughters,
                    says Adonai-Tzva’ot.”[g]

Therefore, since we have these promises, loved ones, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of body and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Godly Sorrow and Joy

Make room for us in your hearts. We wronged no one, ruined no one, took advantage of no one.
