Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
100 1 He exhorteth all to serve the Lord, 3 who hath chosen us, and preserved us, 4 and to enter into his assemblies to praise his Name.
A Psalm of praise.
1 Sing [a]ye loud unto the Lord, all the earth.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyfulness.
3 Know ye that even the Lord is God; he hath [b]made us, and not we ourselves: we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 [c]Enter into his gates with praise, and into his courts with rejoicing: praise him and bless his Name.
5 For the Lord is good: his mercy is [d]everlasting, and his truth is from generation to generation.
23 1 Against false pastors. 5 A prophecy of the great Pastor Jesus Christ.
1 Woe be unto [a]the pastors that destroy and scatter the [b]sheep of my pasture, saith the Lord.
2 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel unto the pastors that [c]feed my people, Ye have scattered my flock, and thrust them out, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit you for the wickedness of your works, saith the Lord.
3 And I will gather the [d]remnant of my sheep out of all countries, whither I had driven them, and will bring them again to their folds, and they shall grow and increase:
4 And I will set up shepherds over them, which shall feed them: and they shall dread no more nor be afraid, neither shall any of them be lacking, saith the Lord.
5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous [e]branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and (A)Israel shall dwell safely, and this is the Name whereby they shall call him, (B)The Lord our righteousness.
7 Therefore behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that they shall no more say, The [f]Lord liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
8 But the Lord liveth, which brought up and led the seed of the house of Israel out of the North country, and from all countries where I had scattered them, and they shall dwell in their own land.
17 (A)[a]And Jesus went up to Jerusalem, and took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,
18 [b]Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief Priests, and unto the Scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
19 [c]And (B)shall deliver him to the Gentiles, to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him, but the third day he shall rise again.
20 (C)[d]Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
21 And he said unto her, What wouldest thou? She said to him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy kingdom.
22 And Jesus answered, and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to [e]drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the [f]baptism that I shall be baptized with? they said to him, We are able.
23 And he said unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and shall be baptized with the baptism, that I am baptized with, but to sit at my right hand, and at my left hand, is [g]not mine to give: but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
24 (D)And when the other ten heard this, they disdained at the two brethren.
25 Therefore Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the lords of the Gentiles have [h]domination over them, and they that are great, exercise authority over them.
26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your servant.
27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant.
28 (E)Even as the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life for the ransom of many.
