Psalm 148

Let All Creation Praise Yahweh

148 Praise Yah.[a]
Praise Yahweh from the heavens;
praise him in the heights.
Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his hosts.[b]
Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all stars of light.
Praise him, highest heavens,[c]
and waters above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of Yahweh,
because he commanded and they were created.
And he put them in place forever and ever,
by a decree he gave that will not pass away.
Praise Yahweh from the earth—
great sea creatures and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and cloud,[d]
stormy wind doing his bidding,[e]
the mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
10 beasts and all cattle,[f]
creeping things and flying birds,[g]
11 kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all judges of the earth,
12 young men and young women as well,
the old together with the young—
13 let them praise the name of Yahweh,
because his name alone is is exalted.
His splendor is above earth and heavens.
14 And he has raised high a horn for his people,
praise for all his faithful—
for the children of Israel,
a people close to him.
Praise Yah.[h]

Proverbs 8:22-31

Wisdom at Creation

22 “Yahweh possessed[a] me, the first of his ways,
    before his acts of old.[b]
23 From eternity, I was set up from the first,
from the beginning[c] of the earth.
24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth,
when there were no springs of abounding[d] water.
25 Before mountains had been shaped,
before hills, I was brought forth.
26 When he had not yet made earth and fields,
or the first dust of the world,
27 when he established[e] the heavens, there I was,
when he drew[f] a circle upon the face of the deep,
28 when he made[g] skies from above,
when he founded fountains of the deep,
29 when he assigned[h] his limits to the sea,
that waters shall not transgress his command,[i]
when he marked[j] the foundations of the earth,
30 I was beside[k] him, a master workman,
and I was delighting day by day,
    rejoicing before him always,[l]
31 rejoicing in the world of his earth,
and my delight was with the children of humankind.

1 John 5:1-12

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been fathered by God, and everyone who loves the father[a] also loves the child fathered by him. By this we know that we love the children of God: whenever we love God and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God: that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, because everyone who is fathered by God conquers the world.

God Has Given Us Eternal Life in the Son

And this is the victory which has conquered the world: our faith. Now who is the one who conquers the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ, not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify,[b] the Spirit and the water and the blood, and the three are in agreement[c].

If we receive the testimony of people, the testimony of God is greater, because this is the testimony of God that he has testified concerning his Son. 10 (The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. The one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son.) 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
