Psalm 76

The Power That Wins

76 God is known in Judah. His name is great in Israel. His holy tent of worship is in Salem. He lives in Zion. There He broke the burning arrows, the iron covering and the sword, and all the things used for fighting in war.

You are shining with greatness, more beautiful than the mountains with many animals. Strong men have been robbed. They sleep their last sleep. Not one of the soldiers can lift his hands. O God of Jacob, both soldier and horse were put in a dead sleep because of Your sharp words. You alone are to be feared. Who may stand before You when You are angry?

You said from heaven who is guilty or not. The earth was afraid and quiet when God stood up to say who is guilty or not, and to save all the people of the earth who are not proud. 10 For the anger of man will praise You. And You will keep what is left of anger around You.

11 Make promises to the Lord your God and keep them. Let all who are around Him bring gifts to Him, Who is to be feared. 12 He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth.

Isaiah 66:14-24

14 When you see this, your heart will be glad. Your bones will get new strength like the new grass. And the hand of the Lord will be made known to His servants. But He will be angry with those who hate Him. 15 For see, the Lord will come in fire. His war-wagons will be like a very strong wind. And He will show His anger with fire. 16 The Lord will punish by fire and by His sword on all flesh. And those killed by the Lord will be many. 17 Those who set themselves apart and make themselves pure to go to the gardens, following one in the center, who eat pig’s flesh, hated things, and mice, will come to an end together,” says the Lord. 18 “For I know their works and their thoughts. The time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they will come and see My shining-greatness. 19 I will put something special among them. And I will send some of them who are left alive to the nations: Tarshish, Put, Lud, Mashech, Rosh, Tubal, and Javan, to the far islands that have not heard of My name or seen My greatness. And they will make My greatness known among the nations. 20 Then they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a grain gift to the Lord, on horses, in war-wagons, on beds pulled by animals, on donkeys, and on camels. They will be brought to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord, “just as the sons of Israel bring their grain gift in a clean pot to the house of the Lord. 21 I will take some of them for religious leaders and for Levites,” says the Lord. 22 “As the new heavens and the new earth which I make will last before Me,” says the Lord, “in the same way, your children’s children and your name will last. 23 From a new moon to another new moon, and from one Day of Rest to another Day of Rest, all people will come to bow down before Me,” says the Lord. 24 “Then they will go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have sinned against Me. For their worm will not die, and their fire will not be put out. And they will be a hated thing to all people.”

Matthew 23:37-24:14

Jesus Sorrows Over Jerusalem

37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the men who speak for God and throw stones at those who were sent to you. How many times I wanted to gather your children around Me, as a chicken gathers her young ones under her wings. But you would not let Me. 38 See! Your house is empty. 39 I say to you, you will not see Me again until you will say, ‘Great is He Who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

Jesus Tells of the House of God (A)

24 Jesus went out of the house of God. On the way His followers came to Him to show Him the buildings of the house of God. Jesus said to them, “Do you see all these things? For sure, I tell you, all these stones will be thrown down. Not one will be left standing on another.”

Jesus Teaches on the Mount of Olives

Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. The followers came to Him when He was alone and said, “Tell us, when will this happen? What can we look for to show us of Your coming and of the end of the world?”

Jesus said to them, “Be careful that no one leads you the wrong way. Many people will come using My name. They will say, ‘I am Christ.’ They will fool many people and will turn them to the wrong way. You will hear of wars and lots of talk about wars, but do not be afraid. These things must happen, but it is not the end yet. Nations will have wars with other nations. Countries will fight against countries. There will be no food for people. The earth will shake and break apart in different places. These things are the beginning of sorrows and pains.

“Then they will hand you over to be hurt. They will kill you. You will be hated by all the world because of My name. 10 Many people will give up and turn away at this time. People will hand over each other. They will hate each other. 11 Many false religious teachers will come. They will fool many people and will turn them to the wrong way. 12 Because of people breaking the laws and sin being everywhere, the love in the hearts of many people will become cold. 13 But the one who stays true to the end will be saved.

14 “This Good News about the holy nation of God must be preached over all the earth. It must be told to all nations and then the end will come.
