Psalm 76

For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A Psalm by Asaph. A song.

76 In Judah, God is known.
    His name is great in Israel.
His tabernacle is also in Salem.
    His dwelling place in Zion.
There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow,
    the shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah.
Glorious are you, and excellent,
    more than mountains of game.
Valiant men lie plundered,
    they have slept their last sleep.
    None of the men of war can lift their hands.
At your rebuke, God of Jacob,
    both chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
You, even you, are to be feared.
    Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?
You pronounced judgment from heaven.
    The earth feared, and was silent,
    when God arose to judgment,
    to save all the afflicted ones of the earth. Selah.
10 Surely the wrath of man praises you.
    The survivors of your wrath are restrained.
11 Make vows to Yahweh your God, and fulfill them!
    Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.
12 He will cut off the spirit of princes.
    He is feared by the kings of the earth.

Isaiah 60:17-22

17 For bronze I will bring gold;
    for iron I will bring silver;
    for wood, bronze,
    and for stones, iron.
I will also make peace your governor,
    and righteousness your ruler.
18 Violence shall no more be heard in your land,
    nor desolation or destruction within your borders;
but you will call your walls Salvation,
    and your gates Praise.
19 The sun will be no more your light by day,
    nor will the brightness of the moon give light to you,
but Yahweh will be your everlasting light,
    and your God will be your glory.
20 Your sun will not go down any more,
    nor will your moon withdraw itself;
for Yahweh will be your everlasting light,
    and the days of your mourning will end.
21 Then your people will all be righteous.
    They will inherit the land forever,
    the branch of my planting,
    the work of my hands,
    that I may be glorified.
22 The little one will become a thousand,
    and the small one a strong nation.
    I, Yahweh, will do this quickly in its time.”

Ephesians 4:25-5:2

25 Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. 26 “Be angry, and don’t sin.”(A) Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 and don’t give place[a] to the devil. 28 Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need. 29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
