Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Tsadhe
137 (A)You are righteous, Lord,
And Your judgments are right.
138 You have commanded Your testimonies in (B)righteousness
And great (C)faithfulness.
139 My (D)zeal has [a]consumed me,
Because my enemies have forgotten Your words.
140 Your (E)word is very [b]pure,
Therefore Your servant (F)loves it.
141 I am small and (G)despised,
Yet I do not (H)forget Your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And (I)Your Law is truth.
143 Trouble and anguish have [c]come upon me,
Yet Your commandments are my (J)delight.
144 Your (K)testimonies are righteous forever;
(L)Give me understanding that I may live.
5 Furthermore, (A)wine betrays an (B)arrogant man,
So that he does not (C)achieve his objective.
He (D)enlarges his appetite like Sheol,
And he is like death, never satisfied.
He also gathers to himself all the nations
And collects to himself all the peoples.
6 “Will all of these not (E)take up a song of ridicule against him,
Even a saying and insinuations against him
And say, ‘(F)Woe to him who increases what is not his—
For how long—
And makes himself [a]rich with debts!’
7 Will [b]your creditors not (G)rise up suddenly,
And those who [c]collect from you awaken?
Indeed, you will become plunder for them.
8 Since you have (H)looted many nations,
All the rest of the peoples will loot you—
Because of human bloodshed and violence [d]done to the land,
To the town and all its inhabitants.
9 “Woe to him who makes (I)evil profit for his household,
To (J)put his nest on high,
To be saved from the hand of catastrophe!
10 You have planned a (K)shameful thing for your house
By bringing many peoples to an end;
So you are (L)sinning against yourself.
11 For the (M)stone will cry out from the wall,
And the rafter will answer it from the [e]framework.
39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is (A)our father.” Jesus *said to them, “(B)If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham. 40 But as it is, (C)you are seeking to kill Me, a Man who has (D)told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do. 41 You are doing the deeds of (E)your father.” They said to Him, “We were not born as a result of sexual immorality; (F)we have one Father: God.” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, (G)you would love Me, (H)for I came forth from God and am here; for I have (I)not even come [a]on My own, but [b](J)He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand [c](K)what I am saying? It is because you cannot (L)listen to My word. 44 (M)You are of (N)your father the devil, and (O)you want to do the desires of your father. (P)He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because (Q)there is no truth in him. Whenever he tells [d]a lie, he (R)speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of [e]lies. 45 But because (S)I say the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If (T)I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 (U)The one who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.”
