Psalm 87

Foreign Nations Come to Worship in Jerusalem

Of the sons of Korah. A psalm. A song.[a]

87 His foundation is on the holy mountains.
Yahweh loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
Glorious things are spoken about[b] you,
O city of God. Selah
I will record[c] those who know me
in Rahab[d] and Babylon,
behold in Philistia and Tyre with Cush,
“This one was born there.”
But with respect to Zion it shall be said,
Each one[e] was born in her,”
for the Most High himself will establish her.
Yahweh will record in writing the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah
And while dancing, singers will sing,
“All my springs are in you.”

Joel 3:17-20

17 And you will know that I, Yahweh your God,
am dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain.
And Jerusalem will be a place of holiness,
and strangers will pass through it no longer.
18 And it will happen on that day;
the mountains will drip new wine,
and the hills will flow with milk,
and all the channels of Judah will flow with water.
A spring from the house of Yahweh will come forth,
and it will water the valley of Acacia Trees.[a]
19 Egypt will become a desolation,
and Edom will become a desolate desert,[b]
because of the violence they did against the children of Judah,
in whose land they have shed innocent blood.
20 But Judah will be inhabited forever,
    and Jerusalem for all generations.[c]

Matthew 21:28-32

The Parable of the Two Sons

28 “Now what do you think? A man had two sons. He approached[a] the first and[b] said, ‘Son, go work in the vineyard today.’ 29 And he answered and[c] said, ‘I do not want to!’ But later he changed his mind and[d] went. 30 And he approached the second[e] and[f] said the same thing. So he answered and[g] said, ‘I will, sir,’ and he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his[h] father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going ahead of you into the kingdom of God! 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did believe him. And when[i] you saw it,[j] you did not even change your minds later so as to believe in him.
