Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Mem
97 Oh how I (A)love Your law!
It is my (B)meditation all the day.
98 Your (C)commandments make me wiser than my enemies,
For they are [a]mine forever.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my (D)meditation.
100 I perceive (E)more than the aged,
Because I have (F)observed Your precepts.
101 I have (G)restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
102 I have not (H)turned aside from Your judgments,
For You Yourself have taught me.
103 How (I)sweet is Your [b]word to my [c]taste!
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 From Your precepts I (J)get perception;
Therefore I (K)hate every false way.
15 Thus says Yahweh,
“(A)A voice is heard in (B)Ramah,
Wailing and bitter weeping.
Rachel is weeping for her children;
She (C)refuses to be comforted for her children
Because (D)they are no more.”
16 Thus says Yahweh,
“(E)Restrain your voice from weeping
And your eyes from tears,
For your (F)work will be rewarded,” declares Yahweh,
“And they will (G)return from the land of the enemy.
17 And there is (H)hope for your future,” declares Yahweh,
“And your children will return to their own territory.
18 I have surely heard Ephraim (I)grieving,
‘You have (J)chastised me, and I was chastised,
Like an untrained (K)calf;
(L)Cause me to return that I may return,
For You are Yahweh my God.
19 For after I turned away, I (M)repented;
And after I was instructed, I (N)slapped my thigh;
I was (O)ashamed and also dishonored
Because I bore the reproach of my youth.’
20 Is (P)Ephraim My dear son?
Is he a delightful child?
Indeed, as often as I have spoken against him,
I certainly still remember him;
Therefore My [a](Q)inmost being yearns for him;
I will surely (R)have compassion on him,” declares Yahweh.
21 “Set up roadmarks for yourself,
Place for yourself guideposts;
(S)Set your heart to the highway,
The way by which you went.
(T)Return, O virgin of Israel,
Return to these your cities.
22 How long will you go here and there,
O (U)faithless daughter?
For Yahweh has created a new thing in the earth—
A [b]woman will encompass a man.”
23 Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, “Once again they will speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities when I [c](V)return their [d]fortunes,
24 And Judah and all its cities will (Y)inhabit it together, the farmer and they who go about with flocks. 25 (Z)For I satisfy the weary soul and fill up every soul who wastes away.” 26 At this I (AA)awoke and looked, and my (AB)sleep was pleasant to me.
Bartimaeus Regains His Sight
46 (A)Then they *came to Jericho. And (B)as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the (C)Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, (D)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 And many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “(E)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they *called the blind man, saying to him, “(F)Take courage, get up! He is calling for you.” 50 And throwing off his outer garment, he jumped up and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus answered him and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “[a](G)Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!” 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go; (H)your faith has [b]saved you.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.
