Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
2 At the beginning, the LORD spoke by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea: “Go. Take to you a wife of fornications, and children of fornications. For the land has committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.”
3 So he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim, who conceived and bore him a son.
4 And the LORD said to him: “Call his name Jezreel. For in a little while, I will visit the blood of Jezreel upon the House of Jehu and will make the kingdom of the House of Israel cease.
5 “And at that time, I will also break the bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel.”
6 She conceived yet again and bore a daughter. And God said to him, “Call her name Lo-Ruhamah. For I will no longer have pity upon the House of Israel. But I will utterly take them away.
7 “Yet I will have mercy upon the House of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow or by sword or by battle, by horses or by horsemen.”
8 Now, when she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, she conceived and bore a son.
9 Then God said: “Call his name Lo-Ammi. For you are not My people. Therefore, I will not be Yours.
10 “Still, the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or told. And in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ it shall be said to them, ‘You are the sons of the living God.’
85 LORD, You have been favorable to Your land. You have brought back the captives of Jacob.
2 You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people and covered all their sins. Selah.
3 You have withdrawn all Your anger and have turned back from the fierceness of Your wrath.
4 Turn us, O God of Our Salvation, and release Your anger toward us.
5 Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your wrath from one generation to another?
6 Will You not turn again and quicken us, so that Your people may rejoice in You?
7 Show us Your mercy, O LORD, and grant us Your salvation.
8 I will listen to what the LORD God will say. For He will speak peace to His people, and to His saints, so that they do not turn again to folly.
9 Surely, His salvation is near to those who fear Him, so that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth shall meet, righteousness and peace shall kiss.
11 Truth shall bud out of the Earth and righteousness shall look down from Heaven.
12 Indeed, the LORD shall give good things and our land shall give her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before Him and shall set her steps in the way. A prayer of David
6 Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him;
7 being rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Beware, lest anyone spoil you through philosophy and empty deceit according to the traditions of man, according to the principles of the world and not according to Christ.
9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead, bodily.
10 And you are complete in Him Who is the Head of all principality and power.
11 In Him also are you circumcised, with circumcision made without hands, by putting off the sinful body of the flesh through the circumcision of Christ,
12 buried with Him in baptism (in which you are also risen with Him through the faith of the working of God, Who raised Him from the dead).
13 And you, who were dead in sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, forgiving all trespasses
14 and blotting out the handwriting of the ordinances against us which opposed us. He has taken it out of the way and fastened it upon the cross.
15 And having disarmed the rulers and authorities, and having made a show of them openly, He has triumphed over them in it.
16 Therefore, let no one judge you as regards food and drink, or regarding a holy day or the new moon or the Sabbath,
17 which are a shadow of things to come. But the body is of Christ.
18 Let no one, at his pleasure, bear rule over you by his humbleness of mind and his worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he has never seen, being rashly puffed up with his fleshly mind
19 and not taking hold of the Head (from Whom all the body, supplied and knit together by joints and bonds, grows with a growth that is from God).
11 And so it was that as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples.”
2 And He said to them, “When you pray, say, ‘Our Father, Who are in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come. Let Your will be done even on Earth, as in Heaven.
3 ‘Give us our daily bread each day.
4 ‘And forgive us our sins. As we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into trial. But deliver us from the evil one.’”
5 Moreover He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves.
6 ‘For a friend of mine has come out of the way to me, and I have nothing to set before him.’
7 “And the one inside answers, and says, ‘Do not trouble me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot rise and give them to you!’
8 “I say to you that though he would not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet he would undoubtedly rise and give him as many as he needed because of his persistence.
9 “And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.
10 “For everyone who asks, receives. And the one who seeks, finds. And to the one who knocks, it shall be opened.
11 “If a son shall ask for bread from any of you who is a father, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead?
12 “Or if he asks for an egg, will he give him a scorpion?
13 “If you, then, who are evil, can give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Ghost to those who desire Him?
