Acts 9:36-43

Peter Restores Tabitha to Life. 36 Now in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which translated means Dorcas).[a] She was completely occupied with good deeds and almsgiving. 37 Now during those days she fell sick and died, so after washing her, they laid [her] out in a room upstairs. 38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him with the request, “Please come to us without delay.” 39 So Peter got up and went with them. When he arrived, they took him to the room upstairs where all the widows came to him weeping and showing him the tunics and cloaks that Dorcas had made while she was with them. 40 Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed. Then he turned to her body and said, “Tabitha, rise up.” She opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up.(A) 41 He gave her his hand and raised her up, and when he had called the holy ones and the widows, he presented her alive. 42 This became known all over Joppa, and many came to believe in the Lord. 43 [b](B)And he stayed a long time in Joppa with Simon, a tanner.

Psalm 23

Psalm 23[a]

The Lord, Shepherd and Host

A psalm of David.

I

The Lord is my shepherd;[b]
    there is nothing I lack.(A)
In green pastures he makes me lie down;
    to still waters he leads me;
    (B)he restores my soul.
He guides me along right paths[c]
    for the sake of his name.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,(C)
    I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff comfort me.

II

[d]You set a table before me
    in front of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;(D)
    my cup overflows.(E)
Indeed, goodness and mercy[e] will pursue me
    all the days of my life;
I will dwell in the house of the Lord(F)
    for endless days.

Revelation 7:9-17

Triumph of the Elect. After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches[a] in their hands. 10 They cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation comes from[b] our God, who is seated on the throne,
    and from the Lamb.”

11 All the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They prostrated themselves before the throne, worshiped God, 12 and exclaimed:

“Amen. Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving,
    honor, power, and might
    be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

13 Then one of the elders spoke up and said to me, “Who are these wearing white robes, and where did they come from?” 14 I said to him, “My lord, you are the one who knows.” He said to me, “These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress;[c] they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.(A)

15 “For this reason they stand before God’s throne
    and worship him day and night in his temple.
    The one who sits on the throne will shelter them.
16 They will not hunger or thirst anymore,
    nor will the sun or any heat strike them.(B)
17 For the Lamb who is in the center of the throne will shepherd them
    and lead them to springs of life-giving water,[d]
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”(C)

John 10:22-30

Feast of the Dedication. 22 The feast of the Dedication[a] was then taking place in Jerusalem. It was winter.(A) 23 [b]And Jesus walked about in the temple area on the Portico of Solomon. 24 So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long are you going to keep us in suspense?[c] If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”(B) 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you[d] and you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify to me.(C) 26 But you do not believe, because you are not among my sheep.(D) 27 My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.(E) 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,[e] and no one can take them out of the Father’s hand.(F) 30 [f]The Father and I are one.”(G)
