21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
Version
Job 14:1-14

14 “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down; he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

And dost Thou open Thine eyes upon such a one, and bringest me into judgment with Thee?

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one!

Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with Thee; Thou hast appointed his bounds, that he cannot pass.

Turn from him, that he may rest, till, as a hireling, he shall accomplish his day.

For there is hope for a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground,

yet through the scent of water it will bud and bring forth boughs like a plant.

10 But man dieth and wasteth away; yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up,

12 so man lieth down and riseth not; till the heavens be no more they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

13 “O that Thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that Thou wouldest keep me secret until Thy wrath be past; that Thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

14 If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

Lamentations 3:1-9

I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of His wrath.

He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

Surely against me is He turned; He turneth His hand against me all the day.

My flesh and my skin hath He made old; He hath broken my bones.

He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.

He hath set me in dark places, as they that are dead of old.

He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out; He hath made my chain heavy.

Also when I cry and shout, He shutteth out my prayer.

He hath enclosed my ways with hewn stone; He hath made my paths crooked.

Lamentations 3:19-24

19 remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

21 This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope:

22 It is through the Lord’S mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness.

24 “The Lord is my portion,” saith my soul, “Therefore will I hope in Him.”

Psalm 31:1-4

31 In Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in Thy righteousness.

Bow down Thine ear to me, deliver me speedily; be Thou my strong rock, a house of defense to save me.

For Thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for the sake of Thy name, lead me and guide me.

Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me, for Thou art my strength.

Psalm 31:15-16

15 My times are in Thy hand; deliver me from the hand of mine enemies and from them that persecute me.

16 Make Thy face to shine upon Thy servant; save me for Thy mercies’ sake.

1 Peter 4:1-8

For inasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind, for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin,

that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries;

wherein they think it strange that you run not with them to the same dissolute excess, speaking evil of you,

who shall give account to Him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

For, for this cause was the Gospel preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober and watch unto prayer.

And above all things, have fervent charity among yourselves, for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

Matthew 27:57-66

57 When the evening had come, there came a rich man of Arimathea named Joseph, who himself also was Jesus’ disciple.

58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth

60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulcher and departed.

61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the sepulcher.

62 Now the next day, that following the Day of the Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,

63 saying, “Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while he was yet alive, ‘After three days I will rise again.’

64 Command therefore that the sepulcher be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night and steal him away, and say unto the people, ‘He is risen from the dead,’ so that the last error shall be worse than the first.”

65 Pilate said unto them, “Ye have a watch. Go your way, make it as secure as ye can.”

66 So they went and made the sepulcher secure, sealing the stone and setting up a watch.

John 19:38-42

38 And after this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore and took the body of Jesus.

39 And there came also Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds in weight.

40 Then took they the body of Jesus and wound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the manner of the Jews for burial.

41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulcher wherein was never man yet laid.

42 There they laid Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, for the sepulcher was nigh at hand.
