Psalm 99

The Lord Is Good to His People

99 The Lord rules! Let the people shake in fear! He sits on His throne above the angels. Let the earth shake! The Lord is great in Zion. And He is honored above all people. Let them praise Your great name. It is to be honored with fear. He is holy!

The strength of the King loves what is right. You have set up what is fair. You do what is right and fair in Jacob. Honor the Lord our God. Worship at His feet. For He is holy!

Moses and Aaron were among His religious leaders. And Samuel was among those who called on His name. They called upon the Lord, and He answered them. He spoke to them from the cloud. They kept His Word and the Law that He gave them. O Lord our God, You answered them. You were a forgiving God to them. But You punished them for their wrong-doing. Honor the Lord our God. And worship at His holy mountain. For the Lord our God is holy!

Deuteronomy 9:1-5

Israel to Remember How They Did Not Obey

“Hear, O Israel! You are crossing over the Jordan today to take the land that belongs to nations greater and stronger than you, with big cities with walls as high as heaven. The people there are strong and tall, the sons of Anakim. You know of them and have heard it said, ‘Who can stand in front of the sons of Anak?’ But know today that it is the Lord your God Who is crossing over before you as a fire that destroys everything. He will destroy them and bring them down before you. So you may drive them out and be quick to destroy them, just as the Lord has told you. But after the Lord your God has driven them out before you, do not say in your heart, ‘The Lord has brought me in to take this land because I am right and good.’ It is because of the sin of these nations that the Lord is driving them out in front of you. It is not because of your being right with God that you are going to take their land. But it is because of the sin of these nations that the Lord your God is driving them out in front of you. By this the Lord is proving that He keeps the promise He made to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Acts 3:11-16

11 The man who was healed held on to Peter and John. All the people who were surprised gathered together around them in a place called Solomon’s Porch.

Peter Preaches the Second Time

12 When Peter saw this, he said to them, “Jewish men, why are you surprised at this? Why do you look at us as if we had made this man walk by our own power or holy lives? 13 The God of our fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, has done this. He has honored His Son Jesus. He is the One you handed over to Pilate. You turned your backs on Him after Pilate had decided to let Him go free. 14 But you turned your backs against the Holy and Right One. Then you asked for a man who had killed someone to go free. 15 You killed the very One Who made all life. But God raised Him from the dead. We saw Him alive. 16 You see and know this man here. He has been made strong through faith in Jesus’ name. Yes, it is faith in Christ that has made this man well and strong. This man is standing here in front of you all.
