⁴⁶ And Mary said, “My soul doth magnify the Lord,

⁴⁷ and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.

⁴⁸ For He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden; for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

⁴⁹ For He that is mighty hath done to me great things, and holy is His name.

⁵⁰ And His mercy is on them that fear Him, from generation to generation.

⁵¹ He hath shown strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

⁵² He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

⁵³ He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He hath sent empty away.

⁵⁴ He hath helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy,

⁵⁵ as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed for ever.”

⁶ With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

⁷ Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

⁸ He hath shown thee, O man, what is good: and what doth the Lord require of thee but to do justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

⁵ Therefore when He cometh into the world, He saith, “Sacrifice and offering Thou wouldest not have, but a body hast Thou prepared for Me.

⁶ In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast had no pleasure.

⁷ Then said I, ‘Lo, I come (in the volume of the Book it is written of Me) to do Thy will, O God.’”

⁸ Above when He said, “Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings, and offering for sin Thou wouldest not have, neither hadst pleasure therein” (which are offered in accordance with the law),

⁹ then said He, “Lo, I come to do Thy will, O God,” He taketh away the first, that He may establish the second.

¹⁰ By this will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
