⁴⁶ And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord,

⁴⁷ and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour.

⁴⁸ For he has looked upon the low estate of his bondmaid; for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

⁴⁹ For the Mighty One has done to me great things, and holy [is] his name;

⁵⁰ and his mercy [is] to generations and generations to them that fear him.

⁵¹ He has wrought strength with his arm; he has scattered haughty [ones] in the thought of their heart.

⁵² He has put down rulers from thrones, and exalted the lowly.

⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent away the rich empty.

⁵⁴ He has helped Israel his servant, in order to remember mercy,

⁵⁵ (as he spoke to our fathers,) to Abraham and to his seed for ever.

⁶ Wherewith shall I come before Jehovah, bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before him with burnt-offerings, with calves of a year old?

⁷ Will Jehovah take pleasure in thousands of rams, in ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

⁸ He hath shewn thee, O man, what is good: and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

⁵ Wherefore coming into the world he says, Sacrifice and offering thou willedst not; but thou hast prepared me a body.

⁶ Thou tookest no pleasure in burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin.

⁷ Then I said, Lo, I come (in [the] roll of the book it is written of me) to do, O God, thy will.

⁸ Above, saying Sacrifices and offerings and burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin thou willedst not, neither tookest pleasure in (which are offered according to the law);

⁹ then he said, Lo, I come to do thy will. He takes away the first that he may establish the second;

¹⁰ by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
