Version
2 Samuel 23:1-7

23 Here are the last words of David, son of Jesse: the words of the one raised up, the anointed one of Jacob’s True God, the sweet songwriter of Israel.

David: The Spirit of the Eternal speaks through me;
        His voice emerges from my mouth.
    The God of Israel has talked to me;
        and the Rock of Israel said,
    “One who rules people with justice
        and who leads them in the fear of God
    Is like the morning light,
        the sun rising on a cloudless morning,
        and the shining grasslands brought up from rain.”

    Isn’t this how God has raised up my house?
        Because He has made a perpetual covenant with me,
        well-ordered and secure,
    Won’t He make all things to grow and prosper,
        save me, and give me all I desire?
    But the wicked are like thorns cut off and tossed away
        that can’t be picked up with your hands;
    No, to touch them, use the iron tip
        on the shaft of a spear.
        They are burned up on the spot.

Psalm 132:1-12

Psalm 132

A song for those journeying to worship.

Eternal One, don’t let the suffering of our father David be forgotten—
    for his sake, remember!
Remember the pledge he made, how he poured out his heart to the Eternal,
    the promise he made to the Mighty One of Jacob:
He said, “I will not go inside my house
    or lie down in my bed;
I will not even rest my eyes—
    I will not take comfort in sleep—
Until I find a dwelling place for You, the Eternal,
    a holy residence dedicated to the Mighty One of Jacob.”

We heard rumors of the holy ark in Ephrathah,[a]
    and later we found it in the field of Jaar.[b]

Let us journey to His dwelling place;
    let us worship at His footstool.

Eternal One, arise and go to Your new home—
    You and the ark of Your strength.
Let every priest join the march wearing righteousness,
    and let songs of joy erupt from the hearts and mouths of Your godly ones.
10 For the well-being of Your anointed servant,
    do not turn Your back on David.

11 The Eternal made His own promise, sworn in truth to David,
    an oath which He cannot, will not break:
“I will continue your dynasty, David;
    one of your descendants will sit on your throne.
12 If your children obey My covenant
    and follow the statutes which I shall teach them,
And if they remain faithful, their children will also
    sit upon your throne—forever.”

Psalm 132:13-18

13 For the Eternal selected Zion;
    He desired it as His holy place of residence.
14 “This is My sanctuary, My resting place, forever and ever;
    I will remain here, for this is what I have desired.
15 I will bless Zion with an endless supply of all she needs;
    I will satisfy the bellies of her hungry with bread.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation,
    and songs of joy will erupt from the hearts and mouths of her godly people.

17 “From there I will make the strength of David’s kingdom grow
    and prepare a lamp for My anointed one.
18 I will clothe his enemies with a garment of shame;
    but as for David’s son, his crown will shine brightly like the sun.”

Revelation 1:4-8

I, John, to the seven churches in Asia:

May you experience God’s favor and rest in the peace that comes from the One who is, the One who was, and the One who is coming; from the seven Spirits, the Perfect Spirit, constantly before God’s throne; and from Jesus the Anointed, the Witness who is true and faithful, the first to emerge from death’s cold womb, the chosen Ruler over all the kings and rulers of the earth.

To the One who loves us and liberated us from the grip of our evil deeds through His very own blood and who established us to be His kingdom and priests for God, His Father. May glory and power be His throughout all the ages. Amen.

Look! He is coming with the clouds, in glory.
    He will capture every eye,
Even of those who pierced Him through.
    All the nations of the earth will be pierced with grief when He appears.

Yes, may all this be done according to His plan. Amen.

Lord God: I am the Alpha and the Omega, [the very beginning and the very end,][a] the One who is, the One who was, and the One who is coming: the All Powerful.

John 18:33-37

33 So Pilate reentered the governor’s palace and called for Jesus to follow him.

Pilate: Are You the King of the Jews?

Jesus: 34 Are you asking Me because you believe this is true, or have others said this about Me?

Pilate: 35 I’m not a Jew, am I? Your people, including the chief priests, have arrested You and placed You in my custody. What have You done?

Jesus: 36 My kingdom is not recognized in this world. If this were My kingdom, My servants would be fighting for My freedom. But My kingdom is not in this physical realm.

Pilate: 37 So You are a king?

Jesus: You say that I am king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the cosmos: to demonstrate the power of truth. Everyone who seeks truth hears My voice.
