A Song of Ascents.
132 Remember, O Lord, on David’s behalf,
All (A)his affliction;
2 How he swore to the Lord
And vowed to (B)the Mighty One of Jacob,
3 “Surely I will not [a]enter (C)my house,
Nor [b]lie on my bed;
4 I will not (D)give sleep to my eyes
Or slumber to my eyelids,
5 Until I find a (E)place for the Lord,
[c]A dwelling place for (F)the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Behold, we heard of it in (G)Ephrathah,
We found it in the (H)field of [d]Jaar.
7 Let us go into His [e](I)dwelling place;
Let us (J)worship at His (K)footstool.
8 (L)Arise, O Lord, to Your (M)resting place,
You and the ark of Your (N)strength.
9 Let Your priests be (O)clothed with righteousness,
And let Your (P)godly ones sing for joy.
10 For the sake of David Your servant,
Do not turn away the face of Your (Q)anointed.
11 The Lord has (R)sworn to David
A truth from which He will not turn back:
“(S)Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.
12 “If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I will teach them,
Their sons also shall (T)sit upon your throne forever.”
13 For the Lord has (A)chosen Zion;
He has (B)desired it for His habitation.
14 “This is My (C)resting place forever;
Here I will (D)dwell, for I have desired it.
15 “I will abundantly (E)bless her provision;
I will (F)satisfy her needy with bread.
16 “Her (G)priests also I will clothe with salvation,
And her (H)godly ones will sing aloud for joy.
17 “There I will cause the (I)horn of David to spring forth;
I have prepared a (J)lamp for Mine anointed.
18 “His enemies I will (K)clothe with shame,
But upon himself his (L)crown shall shine.”
11 When the king heard the words of the book of the law, (A)he tore his clothes. 12 Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, (B)Ahikam the son of Shaphan, [a](C)Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant saying, 13 “Go, inquire of the Lord for me and the people and all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found, for (D)great is the wrath of the Lord that burns against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”
Huldah Predicts
14 So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of [b](E)Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the (F)Second Quarter); and they spoke to her. 15 She said to them, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘Tell the man who sent you to me, 16 thus says the Lord, “Behold, I (G)bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read. 17 (H)Because they have forsaken Me and have burned incense to other gods that they might provoke Me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore My wrath burns against this place, and it shall not be quenched.”’ 18 But to (I)the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of the Lord thus shall you say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel, “Regarding the words which you have heard, 19 (J)because your heart was tender and (K)you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants that they should become (L)a desolation and a (M)curse, and you have (N)torn your clothes and wept before Me, I truly have heard you,” declares the Lord. 20 “Therefore, behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and (O)you will be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.”’” So they brought back word to the king.
The Order of Resurrection
20 But now Christ (A)has been raised from the dead, the (B)first fruits of those who (C)are asleep. 21 For since (D)by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For (E)as in Adam all die, so also in [a]Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ (F)the first fruits, after that (G)those who are Christ’s at (H)His coming, 24 then comes the end, when He hands over (I)the kingdom to the (J)God and Father, when He has abolished (K)all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign (L)until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be (M)abolished is death. 27 For (N)He has put all things in subjection under His feet. But when He says, “(O)All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. 28 When (P)all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that (Q)God may be all in all.
