Hannah’s Song of Thanksgiving

Then Hannah (A)prayed and said,

“My heart exults in Yahweh;
(B)My [a]horn is exalted in Yahweh;
My mouth [b]speaks boldly against my enemies,
Because (C)I am glad in Your salvation.
(D)There is no one holy like Yahweh;
Indeed, (E)there is no one besides You,
(F)Nor is there any rock like our God.
Do not multiply speaking so very proudly;
(G)Let arrogance not come out of your mouth;
(H)For Yahweh is a God of knowledge,
(I)And with Him actions are weighed.
(J)The bows of the mighty are shattered,
(K)But those who stumble gird on strength.
Those who were full hire themselves out for bread,
But those who were hungry cease to hunger.
(L)Even the barren gives birth to seven,
But (M)she who has many children languishes.
(N)Yahweh puts to death and makes alive;
(O)He brings down to Sheol and raises up.
(P)Yahweh makes poor and rich;
(Q)He brings low; He also exalts.
(R)He raises the poor from the dust;
(S)He exalts the needy from the ash heap
(T)To make them sit with nobles,
And inherit a seat of glory;
(U)For the pillars of the earth are Yahweh’s,
And He set the world on them.
(V)He keeps the feet of His holy ones,
(W)But the wicked ones are silenced in darkness,
(X)For not by power shall a man prevail.
10 (Y)Those who contend with Yahweh will be dismayed;
(Z)Against them He will thunder in the heavens;
(AA)Yahweh will render justice to the ends of the earth,
(AB)And He will give strength to His king,
(AC)And He will exalt the [c]horn of His anointed.”

1 Samuel 1:21-28

21 Then the man Elkanah (A)went up with all his household to offer to Yahweh the yearly sacrifice and pay his vow. 22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “I will not go up until the young boy is weaned; then I will (B)bring him, that he may appear before Yahweh and (C)stay there forever.” 23 (D)And Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what is good in your eyes. Remain until you have weaned him; only (E)may Yahweh establish His word.” So the woman remained and nursed her son until she weaned him. 24 Now when she had weaned him, (F)she took him up with her, with a three-year-old bull and one [a]ephah of flour and a jug of wine and brought him to (G)the house of Yahweh in Shiloh, although the boy was young. 25 Then (H)they slaughtered the bull and (I)brought the young boy to Eli. 26 And she said, “Oh, my lord! (J)As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you, praying to Yahweh. 27 (K)For this young boy I prayed, and Yahweh has given me my petition which I asked of Him. 28 (L)So I have also [b]dedicated him to Yahweh; as long as he lives, he is [c]dedicated to Yahweh.” So (M)he worshiped Yahweh there.

1 Timothy 6:11-21

11 But you, O (A)man of God, (B)flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, (C)faith, (D)love, [a]perseverance, gentleness. 12 (E)Fight the good fight of (F)faith. (G)Take hold of the eternal life (H)to which you were called, and you made the good (I)confession in the presence of (J)many witnesses. 13 (K)I charge you in the presence of God, who [b]gives life to all things, and of (L)Christ Jesus, who testified the (M)good confession (N)before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the (O)appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which He will [c]bring about at (P)the proper time—He who is (Q)the blessed and (R)only Sovereign, (S)the King of [d]kings and (T)Lord of [e]lords, 16 (U)who alone has immortality and (V)dwells in unapproachable light, (W)whom no man has seen or can see. (X)To Him be honor and eternal might! Amen.

17 Command those who are rich in (Y)this present age (Z)not to be haughty or to (AA)set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, (AB)who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in (AC)good [f]works, (AD)to be generous and ready to share, 19 (AE)storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may (AF)take hold of that which is life indeed.

20 O (AG)Timothy, guard (AH)what has been entrusted to you, turning aside from (AI)godless and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called knowledge— 21 which some, while professing, have (AJ)gone astray [g]from (AK)the faith.

(AL)Grace be with [h]you.
