Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
20 The Lord has (A)rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the (B)cleanness of my hands He has repaid me.
21 For I have (C)kept the ways of the Lord,
And have (D)not acted wickedly against my God.
22 For all (E)His judgments were before me,
And I did not put away His (F)statutes from me.
23 I was also [a](G)blameless with Him,
And I (H)kept myself from my wrongdoing.
24 Therefore the Lord has (I)repaid me according to my righteousness,
According to the cleanness of my hands in His eyes.
25 With (J)the faithful You show Yourself faithful;
With the [b]blameless (K)You prove Yourself blameless;
26 With the pure You show Yourself (L)pure,
And with the crooked (M)You show Yourself [c]astute.
27 For You (N)save an afflicted people,
But You humiliate (O)haughty eyes.
28 For You (P)light my lamp;
The Lord my God (Q)illumines my darkness.
29 For by You I can (R)run at a [d]troop of warriors;
And by my God I can (S)leap over a wall.
8 And it happened in the middle of the night that the man was startled and [a]bent forward; and behold, a woman was lying at his feet. 9 So he said, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am Ruth your slave. Now spread your garment over your slave, for you are a redeemer.” 10 Then he said, “(A)May you be blessed of the Lord, my daughter. You have shown your last kindness to be better than the first, by not going after young men, whether poor or rich. 11 So now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you whatever you say, for all [b]my people in the city know that you are (B)a woman of excellence. 12 But now, although it is true that I am a redeemer, yet there is also a redeemer more closely related than I. 13 Remain this night, and when morning comes, (C)if he will [c]redeem you, good; let him redeem you. But if he does not wish to [d]redeem you, then I will redeem you, (D)as the Lord lives. Lie down until morning.”
14 So she lay at his feet until morning, and got up before one person could recognize another; and he said, “(E)Do not let it be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.” 15 Again he said, “Give me the shawl that is on you and hold it.” So she held it, and he measured six measures of barley and laid it on her. Then [e]she went into the city. 16 When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “[f]How did it go, my daughter?” And she told her all that the man had done for her. 17 She also said, “These six measures of barley he gave to me, for he said, ‘Do not go to your mother-in-law empty-handed.’” 18 Then she said, “Wait, my daughter, until you know how the matter [g]turns out; for the man will not rest until he has [h]settled it today.”
31 Therefore when he had left, Jesus *said, “Now [a]is (A)the Son of Man (B)glorified, and (C)God [b]is glorified in Him; 32 [c]if God is glorified in Him, (D)God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately. 33 (E)Little children, I am still with you (F)a little longer. (G)You will look for Me; and just as I said to the [d]Jews, now I also say to you: ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ 34 I am giving you a (H)new commandment, (I)that you love one another; (J)just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 (K)By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.”
