²⁰ The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath He recompensed me.

²¹ For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

²² For all His judgments were before me, and I did not put away His statutes from me.

²³ I was also upright before Him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

²⁴ Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His eyes.

²⁵ With the merciful Thou wilt show Thyself merciful; with an upright man Thou wilt show Thyself upright;

²⁶ with the pure Thou wilt show Thyself pure; and with the froward Thou wilt show Thyself froward.

²⁷ For Thou wilt save the afflicted people, but wilt bring down haughty looks.

²⁸ For Thou wilt light my candle; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.

²⁹ For by Thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

³⁰ As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proved; He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him.

⁸ And it came to pass at midnight that the man was afraid, and turned himself; and behold, a woman lay at his feet.

⁹ And he said, “Who art thou?” And she answered, “I am Ruth, thine handmaid. Spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid, for thou art a near kinsman.”

¹⁰ And he said, “Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter; for thou hast shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followed not young men, whether poor or rich.

¹¹ And now, my daughter, fear not. I will do for thee all that thou requirest, for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

¹² And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman; however that be, there is a kinsman nearer than I.

¹³ Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well. Let him do the kinsman’s part. But if he will not do the part of a kinsman for thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman for thee, as the Lord liveth. Lie down until the morning.”

¹⁴ And she lay at his feet until the morning; and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, “Let it not be known that a woman came unto the floor.”

¹⁵ Also he said, “Bring the veil that thou hast upon thee and hold it.” And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her; and she went into the city.

¹⁶ And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “Who art thou, my daughter?” And she told her all that the man had done to her.

¹⁷ And she said, “These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, ‘Go not empty unto thy mother-in-law.’”

¹⁸ Then said she, “Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall; for the man will not be in rest until he hath finished the thing this day.”

³¹ Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him.

³² If God be glorified in Him, God shall also glorify Him in Himself, and shall straightway glorify Him.

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek Me; and as I said unto the Jews, ‘Whither I go ye cannot come,’ so now say I to you.

³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you: that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

³⁵ By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples: if ye have love one for another.”
