Psalm 45:1-2

A Royal Wedding Song

Psalm 45

For the music director, according to “Lilies.” Of the sons of Korah, a contemplative song, a love song.
My heart is stirred with a good word.
I speak my verses to the king.
My tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

Psalm 45:6-9

Your arrows are sharp.
Peoples fall beneath you—
into the heart of the king’s enemies.
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
and a scepter of justice is the scepter of Your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.
Therefore, God, your God, anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions.[a]
All your robes have myrrh, aloes, cassia.
From ivory palaces, stringed instruments
make you glad.

Song of Songs 2:1-7

I am a rose of Sharon,
    a lily of the valleys.

Like a lily among thorns,
so is my darling among the daughters.

Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest,
so is my lover among the sons.
In his shadow I delighted to sit,
and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
He has brought me to the banquet house
and his banner over me is love.
Sustain me with raisin cakes,
    refresh me with apples—
for I am weak with love.
His left hand is under my head
and his right hand embraces me.

Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you,
by the gazelles and does of the field:
Do not arouse or awaken love until it delights.

James 1:9-16

But let the brother in humble circumstances boast in his high position— 10 and the rich person in his humble position, because like the flower of the grass he will pass away. 11 For the sun arises with a scorching heat and withers the grass, and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed.[a] So also the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will wither away.

12 Happy is the one who endures testing, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”—for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He himself tempts no one. 14 But each one is tempted when he is dragged away and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is full grown, it brings forth death.[b]

16 Do not be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.
