Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
11 In the Lord I put my trust; how say ye to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain,
2 for lo, the wicked bend their bow and make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart;
3 if the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
4 The Lord is in His holy temple! The Lord’S throne is in heaven! His eyes behold; His eyelids test the children of men!
5 The Lord trieth the righteous; but the wicked and him that loveth violence, His soul hateth.
6 Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; His countenance doth behold the upright.
13 And King Solomon raised a tribute of men out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
14 And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon and two months at home; and Adoniram was over the levy.
15 And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand who bore burdens and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains,
16 besides the chief of Solomon’s officers who were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, who ruled over the people who wrought in the work.
17 And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones and hewn stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
18 And Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders and the stone squarers hewed them. So they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
21 submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord;
23 for the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church, and He is the savior of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it,
26 that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word,
27 that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He hat loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church.
30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones.
31 “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.”
32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself, and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 “Honor thy father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:
3 “that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”
4 And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
5 Servants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ,
6 not with eyeservice as menpleasers, but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7 with good will doing service, as to the Lord and not to men,
8 knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive from the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
9 And ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening, knowing that your Master also is in Heaven; neither is there respect of persons with Him.
