Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
7 ¶ And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him,
2 that the king said unto Nathan, the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains.
3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thy heart, for the LORD is with thee.
4 ¶ And it came to pass that night that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,
5 Go and tell my slave David, Thus hath the LORD said, Shalt thou build me a house for me to dwell in?
6 For I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the sons of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.
7 In all the places in which I have walked with all the sons of Israel did I speak a word in any of the tribes of Israel, unto whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why did ye not build me a house of cedar?
8 Now, therefore, so shalt thou say unto my slave David, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel;
9 and I have been with thee wherever thou didst walk and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
10 Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, that they may dwell in their place and never again be removed; neither shall the sons of iniquity afflict them any more as before,
11 since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. And I will cause thee to rest from all thy enemies. Likewise, the LORD makes thee to know that he will make thee a house.
12 And when thy days are fulfilled and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men;
20 I have found David my slave; I anointed him with the oil of my holiness,
21 with whom my hand shall be established; mine arm also shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not overcome him, nor the son of iniquity break him down.
23 But I will break down his foes before his face and smite those that hate him.
24 But my truth and my mercy shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 In the same manner I will set his hand also in the sea and his right hand in the rivers.
26 He shall call me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my saving health.
27 Also I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth.
28 I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
29 I will also make his seed to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of the heavens.
30 If his sons forsake my law and do not walk in my judgments,
31 if they profane my statutes and do not keep my commandments,
32 then I will visit their rebellion with the rod and their iniquity with stripes.
33 Nevertheless I will not take my mercy from him, neither will I falsify my truth.
34 I will not profane my covenant, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.
36 His seed shall endure for ever and his throne as the sun before me.
37 It shall be established for ever as the moon and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.
11 ¶ Therefore remember that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who were called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh, which is made by hands,
12 that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world,
13 but now in Christ Jesus ye who at another time were far off are made near by the blood of the Christ.
14 ¶ For he is our peace, who of both has made one, breaking down the middle wall of separation,
15 abolishing in his flesh the enmity, which was the law of commandments in the order of rites, to edify in himself the two in one new man, making peace,
16 and to reconcile both with God by the cross {Gr. stauros – stake} in one body, having slain the enmity thereby;
17 and he came and preached peace unto you who were afar off and to those that were near.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints and of the household of God,
20 and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone,
21 in whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto a holy temple in the Lord,
22 in whom ye also are being built together for the habitation of God in the Spirit.
30 ¶ And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus and told him everything they had done and what they had taught.
31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place and rest a while; for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
33 And many saw them departing and knew him and ran there afoot out of the cities and arrived before them and came together unto him.
34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw a great multitude and had mercy on them because they were as sheep not having a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.
53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret and drew to the shore.
54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him
55 and ran through that whole region round about and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
56 And wherever he entered, into villages or cities or fields, they laid the sick in the streets and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment, and as many as touched him were saved.
