Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
20 I have (A)found My servant David;
With My holy (B)oil I have anointed him,
21 With whom (C)My hand will be established;
My arm also will (D)strengthen him.
22 The enemy will not [a]deceive him,
Nor will the [b](E)son of wickedness afflict him.
23 But I will (F)crush his adversaries before him,
And strike those who hate him.
24 My (G)faithfulness and My favor will be with him,
And in My name his (H)horn will be exalted.
25 I will also place his hand (I)on the sea,
And his right hand on the rivers.
26 He will call to Me, ‘You are (J)my Father,
My God, and the (K)rock of my salvation.’
27 I will also make him My (L)firstborn,
The (M)highest of the kings of the earth.
28 I will maintain My (N)favor for him forever,
And My (O)covenant shall be confirmed to him.
29 So I will establish his [c](P)descendants forever,
And his (Q)throne (R)as the days of heaven.
30 “If his sons (S)abandon My Law
And do not walk in My judgments,
31 If they [d]violate My statutes
And do not keep My commandments,
32 Then I will punish their wrongdoing with the (T)rod,
And their guilt with [e]afflictions.
33 But I will not [f]withhold (U)My favor from him,
Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.
34 I will not [g]violate My (V)covenant,
Nor will I (W)alter [h]the utterance of My lips.
35 [i]Once I have (X)sworn by My holiness;
I will not lie to David.
36 His [j](Y)descendants shall endure forever,
And his (Z)throne (AA)as the sun before Me.
37 It shall be established forever (AB)like the moon,
And a (AC)witness in the sky is faithful.” Selah
15 Now three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam, while (A)the army of the Philistines was camping in the Valley of Rephaim. 16 David was then in the stronghold, while (B)the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. 17 And David had a craving and said, “Oh that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!” 18 So the three broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water from the well of Bethlehem which was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David; however, David would not drink it, but poured it out to the Lord; 19 and he said, “Far be it from me before my God that I would do this. Shall I drink the blood of these men who went [a]at the risk of their lives? For they brought it at the risk of their lives.” Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
15 [a]He is the (A)image of the (B)invisible God, the (C)firstborn of all creation: 16 for [b](D)by Him all things were created, (E)both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether (F)thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—(G)all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He [c](H)is before all things, and in Him all things [d]hold together. 18 He is also the (I)head of (J)the body, the church; and He is (K)the beginning, (L)the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. 19 For [e]it was (M)the Father’s good pleasure for all (N)the [f]fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to (O)reconcile all things to Himself, (P)whether things on earth or things in [g]heaven, having made (Q)peace through (R)the blood of His cross.
21 And although you were (S)previously alienated and hostile in attitude, engaged in evil deeds, 22 yet He has now (T)reconciled you in His (U)body of flesh through death, in order to (V)present you before Him (W)holy and blameless and beyond reproach— 23 if indeed you continue in [h]the faith firmly (X)established and steadfast, and not shifting from the (Y)hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed (Z)in all creation under heaven, (AA)and of which I, Paul, [i]was made a [j](AB)minister.
