Psalm 119:113-128

Samekh.

113 I hate those who are (A)double-minded,
But I love Your (B)law.
114 You are my (C)hiding place and my (D)shield;
I [a](E)wait for Your word.
115 (F)Depart from me, evildoers,
That I may (G)observe the commandments of my God.
116 (H)Sustain me according to Your [b]word, that I may live;
And (I)do not let me be [c]ashamed of my hope.
117 Uphold me that I may be (J)safe,
That I may (K)have regard for Your statutes continually.
118 You have [d]rejected all those (L)who wander from Your statutes,
For their deceitfulness is [e]useless.
119 You have [f]removed all the wicked of the earth like (M)dross;
Therefore I (N)love Your testimonies.
120 My flesh [g](O)trembles for fear of You,
And I am (P)afraid of Your judgments.

Ayin.

121 I have (Q)done justice and righteousness;
Do not leave me to my oppressors.
122 Be (R)surety for Your servant for good;
Do not let the arrogant (S)oppress me.
123 My (T)eyes fail with longing for Your salvation
And for Your righteous [h]word.
124 Deal with Your servant (U)according to Your lovingkindness
And (V)teach me Your statutes.
125 (W)I am Your servant; (X)give me understanding,
That I may know Your testimonies.
126 It is time for the Lord to (Y)act,
For they have broken Your law.
127 Therefore I (Z)love Your commandments
Above gold, yes, above fine gold.
128 Therefore I esteem right all Your (AA)precepts concerning everything,
I (AB)hate every false way.

1 Samuel 19:8-17

When there was war again, David went out and fought with the Philistines and [a]defeated them with great slaughter, so that they fled before him. Now there was (A)an evil spirit from the Lord on Saul as he was sitting in his house (B)with his spear in his hand, (C)and David was playing the harp with his hand. 10 (D)Saul tried to [b]pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, so that he [c]stuck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night.

11 Then (E)Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him, in order to put him to death in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, “If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be put to death.” 12 (F)So Michal let David down through a window, and he went out and fled and escaped. 13 Michal took (G)the [d]household idol and laid it on the bed, and put a quilt of goats’ hair at its head, and covered it with clothes. 14 When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “(H)He is sick.” 15 Then Saul sent messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me on [e]his bed, that I may put him to death.” 16 When the messengers entered, behold, the [f]household idol was on the bed with the quilt of goats’ hair at its head. 17 So Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” And Michal said to Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go! (I)Why should I put you to death?’”

Mark 6:45-52

Jesus Walks on the Water

45 (A)Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into (B)the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side to (C)Bethsaida, while He Himself was sending the crowd away. 46 After (D)bidding them farewell, He left (E)for the mountain to pray.

47 When it was evening, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and He was alone on the land. 48 Seeing them [a]straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the [b](F)fourth watch of the night He *came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. 49 But when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed that it was a ghost, and cried out; 50 for they all saw Him and were [c]terrified. But immediately He spoke with them and *said to them, (G)Take courage; it is I, (H)do not be afraid.” 51 Then He got into (I)the boat with them, and the wind stopped; and they were utterly astonished, 52 for (J)they [d]had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves, but [e]their heart (K)was hardened.
