Version
Psalm 9:9-20

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
    a stronghold in times of trouble.(A)
10 And those who know your name put their trust in you,
    for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.(B)

11 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion.
    Declare his deeds among the peoples.(C)
12 For he who avenges blood is mindful of them;
    he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.(D)

13 Be gracious to me, O Lord.
    See what I suffer from those who hate me;
    you are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death,(E)
14 so that I may recount all your praises
    and, in the gates of daughter Zion,
    rejoice in your deliverance.(F)

15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made;
    in the net that they hid has their own foot been caught.(G)
16 The Lord has made himself known; he has executed judgment;
    the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Higgaion. Selah(H)

17 The wicked shall depart to Sheol,
    all the nations that forget God.(I)

18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
    nor the hope of the poor perish forever.(J)

19 Rise up, O Lord! Do not let mortals prevail;
    let the nations be judged before you.(K)
20 Put them in fear, O Lord;
    let the nations know that they are only human. Selah(L)

1 Samuel 18:1-4

Jonathan’s Covenant with David

18 When David[a] had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was bound to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.(A) Saul took him that day and would not let him return to his father’s house.(B) Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as his own soul. Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that he was wearing and gave it to David and his armor and even his sword and his bow and his belt.

Luke 21:25-28

The Coming of the Son of Man

25 “There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves.(A) 26 People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see ‘the Son of Man coming in a cloud’ with power and great glory.(B) 28 Now when these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”[a](C)
